The original Steam Controller was a lot of fun to mess with, and you can similarly mess with the new Steam Controller to play silly little tunes. ICYMI: the Steam Controller likes to scream at you if you drop (or throw) it.
Quite a few years ago we had the open source Steam Controller Singer project, which now appears to have a successor with Steam Haptics Singer which has actually been around it seems since 2022 to work with the Steam Deck. The developer has recently picked up the project again, to enable it to also work with Valve's newer Steam Controller.
They released version 1.11 today which "supports using the back rumble haptics of the Steam Controller (2026)" and also "introduces an option to allow MIDI files to control the gain directly" along with a few other bits.
Giving it a test on Linux is simple with the included executable (on Linux it's just named "steam-haptics-singer"). You just download it, make it executable and then run it in terminal with an included MIDI file and the Steam Controller will sing away at you. The developer included a version of Portal Still Alive for testing in the releases, so here's a rough silly little video of it singing:

that is a cool feature that reminds me that wii mote had the ability to playback sounds, if i remember correct, this was used in some games like "the ring" game where you receive an phone call and put the controller at your ears to listen to the message.
well, i tried to google it but cant find any evidence of this game existing...
anyway i hope some developer take advantage of it with some unique gimmicks.
