Songs of Syx is a fantasy city-builder with vast real-time battles simulating tens of thousands of citizens and soldiers.

You start off with a tiny little insignificant village and build up towards a vast empire. It has a lot of game mechanics, so it does take some time to learn with lots of events. The game is still in Early Access so it's not quite finished yet - but it's getting there now.

The v71 Reign of Terror update expands on major systems in Songs of Syx. With it focused on law, order and family. You can choose to rule through fear with harsh punishments and armed patrols, or maintain stability through prosperity and happiness as you shape the laws, society and future generations of your growing empire.

From the press release:

REIGN OF TERROR

Keep control and inspire loyalty in a population that fears you. Punish the disloyal with methods only those strong enough to rule would consider. In addition, slavery is now reworked with slaves becoming not only a special type of subject but also a tradeable good. And if your subjects become unruly, impose order with guards patrolling the streets. Or if you wish, be merciful and instead of loyalty focus on increasing the happiness of those beneath you. The choice is yours.

LAW AND ORDER

Change the law according to your liking. Be harsh, or relaxed. Create a strict and moral order or have your subjects live freely with little constraints or punishments if they stray. Your will, the law.

FAMILY AND LEGACY

Most races now have children naturally, replacing breeders. Parents care for their offspring in their homes until they come of age. Education and other services have also evolved accordingly, servicing children but also increasing innovation, knowledge and admin. Now you can also track the lineage of your subjects throughout history. Who is related to who? From whence do they come? Each subject has their own story to tell.
