Mojang have revealed that the Chaos Cubed update is set for release on June 16th, bringing with it a bunch of new content and features.

I'm most excited about Minecraft Java finally having a proper friends list feature, along with peer to peer multiplayer - which together is going to make it so much easier to play with friends and family. It's actually a little shocking it took this long for them to implement it. But anyway, complaints aside it's going to be awesome, especially with the new experimental Vulkan renderer too.

As for actual content in Chaos Cubed the update will bring with it the new Sulfur Caves biome, which will be home to the Sulfur Cube mob which is probably one of the most interesting and unique mobs they've ever added to the game. It can absorb other blocks, and then be punted around like a ball with the physics of it depending on what block is inside - some might make it bouncier, others make it slide and more. It's a funny little mob they've designed for all the mini-games people end up doing.

They also teased at Minecraft Live that the next 2026 content drop is already in progress to come with a colourful Dappled Forest biome that will have various mysterious abandoned camps.
