Valve released the latest update to Proton Experimental on June 19th to get more Windows games working well on Linux / SteamOS.

As a quick reminder on what it is - Proton Experimental is like their testing ground for future stable numbered version Proton updates (like the upcoming Proton 11 that's currently in Beta). You can install any version of Proton by just searching for "Proton" in your Steam Library. If you already have them installed, they will just show up as updates in your Steam Downloads. Check out the updated GamingOnLinux Guide to all the different Proton versions.

Here's all the changes from Proton Experimental for June 16th:

  • Fixed Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 not starting when Steam Properties language is set to certain values.
  • Fixed Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain not being playable after a recent game update.
  • Fixed a memory leak in HITMAN World of Assassination.
  • Fixed cinematic playback in Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster.
  • Fixed intro video playback in Legend of Mana.
  • Fixed Proton Experimental regression that broke keyboard controls in XCOM 2.
  • Fixed Proton Experimental regression that made controller buttons incorrectly mapped in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
  • Fixed Arc Raiders not being playable for some users after a recent game update.
  • Fixed Proton 11 regressions:
    • Improved rendering of the Imperiums: Greek Wars launcher.

ARC Raiders is still (at time of writing) set by default to Proton Hotfix, but you should be good now to swap it back to Proton Experimental yourself with this update after the recent Denuvo Anti-Cheat update broke it. You can see more anti-cheat compatibility on our dedicated page.

Is there a particular bug in Proton you're waiting on seeing fixed? Let us know in the comments.

I stunned its taken Valve THIS long to fix Resident Evil 0, its been broken for like 3-4 years in current Proton.
