Zenless Zone Zero has arrived on Steam and works on Linux / SteamOS

Another free to play anime game from COGNOSPHE has arrived on Steam - with Zenless Zone Zero officially out now and it appears to work well on Linux / SteamOS. The game uses HoYoKProtect as noted on the Steam page, but they appear to have enabled support for Linux.

"Zenless Zone Zero is a brand-new urban fantasy action RPG lovingly crafted by HoYoverse.

In the game, a disaster known as "Hollows" brought modern civilization to its knees. Hollows appear out of the blue, spawning anomalous dimensions crawling with terrifying monsters called "Ethereals."

In the wake of this catastrophic disaster, the last city to survive the apocalypse — New Eridu — used the technology and resources needed to combat the Hollows, overcame countless dangers, and gradually evolved into humanity's final bastion of civilization.

In New Eridu, you'll step into the role of a Proxy — a professional who provides guidance to those who need to venture into the dangerous Hollows for various reasons. You'll embark on adventures with unique characters, exploring Hollows together, battling powerful enemies, completing commissions, and uncovering the secrets hidden within the city."

Testing it on Fedora KDE 44 with Proton 11 and everything works. The launcher has a weird white bar along the top, but apart from that I didn't have any issues getting through it. Performance is generally quite good on my Ryzen 5800x + Radeon 6800 XT and the game looks great too. 165FPS when not in combat, with combat dropping it at times to around 140FPS.

One thing to be aware of is even after you've downloaded it from Steam, and then linked your required HoYoverse account - it will need to do an additional in-game download of nearly 5GB. Then it will go through and check the resource integrity - which can take a while. But eventually, you will get into the game.
