More teasers for a big Valheim update have arrived

By - | Views: 16,811

I'm honestly quite hyped for the Mistlands update to Valheim, although it's some time away still yet the teasers are great. Iron Gate released another post recently giving out just a wee bit more information, plus some shots and a video to keep your appetites in check.

They said their team are "fully focused on creating the Mistlands" with new "creatures are given life, dungeons are being planned out, and weapons are being crafted". The new Mistlands Biome is a big task for Iron Gate and they said it still requires a lot of work. Here's the Mistlands teaser concept art:

Seems like we're also going to be seeing a crossbow!

A teaser video of a new Bow was also included:

That's it for now. I'll be keep a close eye on Valheim as always. Once the Mistlands update is out, I'm definitely going to be starting a new world. Perhaps even some more livestreams of it on the GamingOnLinux Twitch channel!

Valheim is available to buy on Humble Store or Steam. It's Steam Deck Verified.

I enjoyed Valheim back when it was released, but after 20 hours I somewhat bounced off of it.

All these updates and Steam Deck changes make me want to come back to it, also starting a new world. I'm hoping that the UI and controls will have improved significantly as they were too tedious last time I played, and a big part of why I eventually got bored.

I'm over 400 hours now... just started a new world to build a new base in preparation for the Mistlands. No exploration until it's released though.

My new "castle" is on the largest island of an archipelago, my best build yet I just have the interior decor to finish now!

While I generally enjoy Valheim, me and some friends have had two worlds now and both times we have stopped playing after a while. I think it has something to do with the progression of certain things being too grindy and frustrating.

Both times we stopped after getting to the mountain biome and having to find silver. Finding silver is just too annoying, because it only spawns above a certain height and the terrain can't be too steep. In addition it's underground, with no visible markers to indicate where. Getting obsidian in the mountains is a fun challenge, but finding silver is really difficult because it's so rare and underground, so the terrain looks like a Swiss cheese after we've been there.

We kind of need the silver to get good enough gear for the Plains biome, so silver being such a rarity is a real problem for us. I also hope we get some more wild animals in all of the biomes, to get some more variety.

Do you know that you can use the wishbone from the Bonemass boss to detect silver nodes?

There's lot of things that are underground and wishbone can detect. There's at least one way to make cheesing silver without wishbone bit easier, but wishbone is the way to go unless you are trying to get silver earlier than you're supposed to.

My friends and I are waiting for the full game to be released, so that we can start a world all over and discover everything it has to offer... instead of being somewhat "spoiled" if we played every "smaller" releases.

But our first playthrough was incredible

Just putting it out there... but you can always use "devcommands" and "debugmode" from the console to generate what you need. I gave up farming stone to build "castles" after being half way through my first one, way too tedious. I only do this in this instance though, as I generally like the grind.

I only play singleplayer and also use a few mods to vastly increase my enjoyment of the game, such as auto stacking items. There are also mods for extra creatures, for instance chickens (plus eggs)
