If you're using the open source Mesa drivers on Linux (mostly AMD/Intel) and you're a fan of Minecraft, the next Mesa release is going to give you a big performance uplift.
Well this is quite exciting. Collabora, the open source consulting firm that often works with Valve, has announced the experimental Venus driver for 3D acceleration of Vulkan applications in QEMU.
Recently developer Mike Blumenkrantz wrote an interesting post in regards to a future upgrade to Zink, the driver that provides an OpenGL implementation on top of Vulkan and the performance with it is looking impressive.
Two sets of driver releases are now available. First we have the open source Mesa 21.3 release and we also secondly have the NVIDIA Vulkan Beta 470.62.12 also out now.

Following on from the huge recent 470.57.02 stable release that added in the likes of DLSS for Proton, hardware accelerated OpenGL and Vulkan rendering on Xwayland, and asynchronous reprojection - there's a new Vulkan Beta Driver out today with 470.56.05.
