A recent update to Monster Hunter Wilds has been causing problems for players on Linux platforms including SteamOS / Steam Deck. Valve has now put out an update to Proton Hotfix to work around it.

In a nice win for open source, NVIDIA have now provided the PhysX and Flow GPU source code to expand what developers can do with it.

Valve released a great sounding new update to Proton Experimental on April 4th, to help get more Windows games running correctly on Linux platforms like Steam Deck.

Wine 10.5 is out now as the latest development release of the Windows compatibility layer that will eventually release as Wine 11 next year.

Mesa 25.0.3 has arrived as the latest bug-fix release for open source Linux graphics drivers, bringing a bunch of fixes across different drivers and some game fixes are included too.

Valve have released the latest stable SteamOS update for Steam Deck. SteamOS 3.6.24 is here with a few fixes and improvements, while work continues on the huge SteamOS 3.7 update.

ProtonUp-Qt is a tool to add extra compatibility tools on Linux / Steam Deck like GE-Proton. A new release out now with version 2.12.

Work on the KDE Plasma desktop sounds like it continues to go very well, with some really important bug fixes arriving to make the experience a lot nicer. My favourite Linux desktop environment and what powers the Desktop Mode on Steam Deck.

Ubuntu 25.04 is due out next month, with a Beta now live for testing so you can see all that's new and report any unexpected issues.
