Day of Infamy [Steam] is a very fun FPS from the developers of Insurgency. I've played a little while of it and found it enjoyable and now it's fully released.

Day of Infamy started in late 2015 as a mod for Insurgency, created by a mix of the developers at New World and members of the modding community. Shortly after an announcement at the PC Gaming show at E3 in 2016, Day of Infamy launched into Early Access on Steam in July 2016.

With one of their last patches, they also introduced official Linux support as it wasn't considered stable enough until then.

They also released another patch only today, just before the release. Their support of the game has been nothing short of fantastic. They are definitely a developer to support for sure. A lot of the patch was general spit and polish on bugs, but they also updated and improved some textures, game modes and more.

Features include
  • 8 player Cooperative gameplay versus challenging AI opponents in three game modes and two difficulty levels.
  • Up to 32 player Multiplayer gameplay in four wave-based game modes with the Battles playlist. Alternatively, 24 player game modes in three single-life and objective-reinforcement playlist Special Assignment.
  • 10 maps – Ranging from war-torn cities to farm villages, and fortified beachheads to snow-covered forests.
  • Over 70 historical weapons and attachments
  • 9 player classes
  • Unit system – Unlock historic units as you rank up, which are then playable as in-game characters with new uniforms, headgear, badges, and voices. Ranking up does not provide players with any gameplay advantages, so gameplay balance will always remain purely skill-based.
  • Mod support and Workshop integration

If you're an FPS fan it's well worth checking out and a game we will need to livestream at somepoint for sure. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I so want this! I just wish I had a demo so that I could try the performance of my roughly minimum-spec laptop.

Afaik, it's based on the source engine. Maybe you got Insurgency or CS:Go and try them.
Or you refund if it's not working out.

True, I can refund, that's nice. I'll try this soon! Used to really enjoy CoD United Offensive.

Does it have single player/story mode? Not a huge fan of multiplayer FPS :/

I saw this on Steam last night and was checking it out. It has great reviews, and I used to love that type of game (played Wolf:ET on Linux for thousands of hours).. My only reservation is my twitch reflexes aren't what they used to be when I was younger, so I'm kind of hesitant to drop $20 for a FPS game where I'll likely be outclassed and quit playing soon. So, maybe I'll wait for a sale to pick it up.

The great thing about this game as well as the developer's other game, Insurgency, is the amazing coop mode. You don't have to compete with others and can simply join a game where you and a small group complete objectives against some pretty competent bots. I already owned Insurgency, so I got a small discount for Day of Infamy by completing the bundle on Steam. Insurgency also runs on Linux, in case anyone is interested.

There is also a great coop mode, so dno need to be afraid of other players when all they do is help you!

Don't worry too much, you wouldn't be the only one whose reflexes ain't anymore what they used to be. (In fact, I consider myself a really bad FPS player but I still greatly enjoy Day of Infamy.)

Day of Infamy isn't one of those run 'n gun games that all tend to end up in a frenzy, like for example Battlefield. It's a tactical shooter and in my opinion the pacing is just right.

I greatly enjoy Day of Infamy and totally prefer it to Insurgency. It has something that Insurgency and, in fact, most multiplayer FPS lack: atmosphere. New World Interactive did a great job with the sound design to bring this game alive. The fights are usually tense and even if we lose, I often find them pretty rewarding nonetheless.

I can only recommend this game.
