Poly Bridge from back in 2016 turned out to be quite a hit, and it's coming back for another run with Poly Bridge 2 being recently announced for release this year.

Featuring new levels, new game mechanics, a special custom deterministic physics engine along with an apparently soothing soundtrack as you attempt to build bridges and inevitably watch them crumble into nothing as they fall under the weight of various vehicles. Announcement trailer can be seen below:

According to the Steam page, just like the previous game it's coming with Linux support and it will arrive sometime in May. Once we get a solid confirmed date, we will endeavour to let you know.

I didn't play the first game but I have played plenty of Bridge Constructor Portal, and now I definitely have a thirst for a lot more of this so Poly Bridge 2 is coming at a good time.

You can wishlist/follow it on Steam.

Personal rant:

Having played Bridge Constructor and Poly Bridge 1, I always get to a point where they are asking me to build a bridge 3 miles long using balsa wood and baling twine. I love engineering challenges, but my suspension of disbelief just gets broken. I would report to the city that a safe bridge is not achievable for the available budget.

Not as fun as sending trucks to their fiery doom, but that gets old pretty quick too.

I guess I hoped for a bit more structural realism without the ludicrous constraints. Maybe use earthquakes as a test mechanism instead of one fully loaded truck? Now that would be cool.

Edit: I realize that a lot of Poly Bridge is building ridiculous contraptions that jump and flip, so realism isn't exactly their aim. But my rant still stands in general.

(Hopefully many other people enjoy these games, since they are obviously made with a great deal of love.)
