The excellent SC Controller gamepad tool has two fresh releases available

Posted by , | Views: 4,189

Do not adjust your monitor, you did read the correctly. SC Controller, the excellent tool that started off just for configuring the Steam Controller has two new releases out.

Firstly, the latest main build v0.4.6 which has an interesting change with config files. According to the developer, it will now convert them into the latest format so you don't need to keep compatibility with older versions.

It also adds support for the Retroarch RemotePad protocol, this will allow you to use any mobile phone with RetroArch installed as a gamepad which sounds pretty fun. Additionally, you now have the ability to use a "shell command as condition in modeshift" along with a fix for the scc-daemon crashing with Steam Play titles and a UI fix.

There's also the v0.4.9.2 experimental release out, which is the big rewrite of SC Controller to support more platforms. This adds in NetBSD / OpenBSD support, XInput support on Windows 8 and above and more.

Find all the release notes here.

Fantastic to see progress continue on such a useful application. Pretty sure I end up using it nearly every single day.

Do you have any idea if Valve reached out to this dev? They bought other controller stuff in the past.

Why would Valve do that? Valve want you to use Steam while SC Controller is intended for using Steam Controller without it.

I recently discovered this, and It's so much more reliable than Steam! I absolutely love it, and I'm currently typing through it on my SC ;-D Using this FOSS just shows what potential this controller has as a whole. Steam Input should've been open-source to begin with tbh.

This is why I originally switched to SCC back in 2016 ... I was tired of Steam's hit-or-miss reliability. SCC is way more stable, reliable, and frankly powerful than Steam's SC driver.

I joined Github just hoping to contribute to the success of SCC, and it wasn't too much later that I began supporting it on Patreon as well.

I'd urge everyone who uses SCC (or, you know, flipping adores it) to head over to Patreon and help Kozek out with at least $1 a month, or to Github and contribute there.

Hello everyone,

does SC-Controller also work with a PS3 Controller plugged in via USB. ?
Does this Program only work with Bluetooth-Wireless Controllers ?

I'm asking because i just gave sc-controller a shot with my USB-PS3-Controller and sc-Controller didn't recognise it at all...

I thought their latest goal was to have steam input working outside steam with licenses that make it usable outside the steam store. Valve does a lot of things that benefits not only Valve, but everyone in the gaming community.
