I'm far from being a Linux expert at all but I like to try things out and have Ubuntu as a secondary OS on my primary desktop computer.
Now I would like to give SteamOS a try on my "new" secondary computer. According to the [system requirements](http://store.steampowered.com/steamos/buildyourown) for AMD GPU's it has to be at least the 8500er series. So am I out with my 7870 anyway?
And if it works will the performance be good or bad?
