Nvidia Optimus modesetting failure
burningserenity Jun 10, 2018
As of this morning, I can't start anything with primusrun. There is no error when doing so until I switch to another TTY, then I'm informed of modesetting timeout. I tried reinstalling the drivers to no avail. In Windows, any attempt to start something with the Nvidia card causes a BSOD.

I was using it last night with no problem. Today I ran updates including kernel and Nvidia driver updates. I tried playing Yooka-Laylee during these updates, which failed. This initially didn't concern me as I've had the Nvidia card refuse to run during updates before, but it never came back. I'm not sure if the update is at fault, since I didn't try the card this morning prior to update.

Does anyone have any idea about what is going on?

I'm dual booting Manjaro and Win 10 with a Skylake i7 and a GTX 980M.

1-) Did you always playing games during driver updates? If yes , why?

2-) Try with an Ubuntu based distro to test it out with Nvidia Prime.
