Right now I wouldn't have hopes for it. Even if the devs might be willing to port it, they are not the ones in control of decisions.

doesnt surprise me, because it is an updated version of the metro 1+2 engine
maybe there are some pre order keys to buy?

I guess the people who were able to test this in Steamplay were those who had pre-ordered the game before the publisher decided that they didn't want to sell it anymore?

But it does have some nasty visibility issues where the launcher does only display a Grey solid body and window buttons unless you resize it or hover over objects which will flash the interface. It does work to login, install and launch a game but makes it a bit harder.
About metro, it's working fine without any major issues
