E3 2019
Arehandoro Jun 10, 2019
With the huge amount of games and news that will be generated these days due the E3, I thought of putting some games that at least will appear on PC, hopefully some with native builds on Linux. For now I will start with one that has drawn a smile on my face:

Feel free to post here all the trailers and announcements you find interesting from the Expo :)

There's this:

The Commander Keen 'IP' resurrected to become a mobile game.

Doom looks alright; though I'm kinda concerned that they're spreading themselves a little too thin with the trip to heaven (?!) an everything.

Maybe I should also confess that I find all the Keanu Reeves adulation a little off-putting.

As expected no Linux release since CDPR hates Linux, but Cyberpunk 2077 has been announced for a release date in April 2020.

The trailers don't look all that interesting to be personally actually, because I don't like shooters. And with the Witcher 3 only recently being playable on Linux, I won't expect this one to be for quite a long time. Others will probably be more excited about its release, especially those of you who dual boot.

I hope it will be possible to play as a stealthy hacker, entirely non-lethally -- so that if I ever get to play it, I can pretend it's Deus Ex.

Cyberpunk looks amazing, and it might not be released for Linux but they are using it in 2077 xD

I also liked this video from Obsidian, looks like a space Fallout. A shame that it will probably be only on Microsoft platforms. The title is The Outer Worlds:

I don't expect much from CDPR these days, but if they'll release on Stadia, there will be a better chance of getting CP2077 for normal Linux.

It's also a shame, they use Linux in game, and don't care to release for Linux proper.

I think we have more chances to see a good compatibility with Proton. Agree with you generally though, not expecting much.

Regarding Wine support - so far it's not even clear what they are using in the game. If Vulkan - it might work sooner. If DX12 - that would depend on vkd3d, and it's not yet ready as far as I know.
