Title: FreeGameDev.net is modernising our forums, join us!
Julius 6 Jun 2021
You might remember our old forums ( https://forum.freegamedev.net ) which have not aged very well admittedly , but we still are a small dedicated community around open-source games and their development.

So if you are interested in these kind of games (for example SuperTuxKart is part of our community) then come and join us on our new rebooted forums on https://freegamedev.net or easily chat with us on our modern webbased IRC at https://freegamedev.net/irc/

We hope to attract some more people especially if you are interested in participating in game-jams or taking part organized in multiplayer games playing FLOSS games.

We also still run our old Freegamer blog, although it hasn't seem much updates lately. Guest authors very welcome ;)

P.S.: also check out our OSG community on Lemmy: https://lemmy.ml/c/opensourcegames

I hadn't realized newer forums existed. Thanks for the news, was able to create a new account using my old user name and password.

We also have modernized our Planet feed aggregators: https://planet.freegamedev.net/

Might be still a bit rough around the edges and following from the Fediverse is actually untested for now.

Additional suggestions for RSS feeds from open-source game projects welcome.

Edit: Following and commenting from Mastodon etc. seems to work.

Is there a way to get access to a single aggregated RSS feed similar to ones provided by Planet GNOME and Planet Emacslife? I would like to keep up with the aggregator but I'll likely forget to check it myself, so I'd like to add the whole aggregator to my RSS client without having to manage all of the individual RSS feeds.

Yes, just add /feed/ to any place to get a RSS feed.

So if you want all, it would be: https://planet.freegamedev.net/feed/

Or if you are only interested in the games, but not the game development news: https://planet.freegamedev.net/author/games/feed/

Or if you want to subscribe only to a category like RPG games: https://planet.freegamedev.net/category/rpg/feed/

In theory you should also be able to add the Games or Dev Planet as a contact to your Mastodon compatible Fediverse account, but I have not yet gotten around testing that.

Nice, thanks! I've now added that my Elfeed so I remember to check it every now and then.
