Title: Feedback needed - future website updates

Is there a way to import data from steam / gog / retroachievement like games played or achievements earned?
If so, you could do a gamer of the week article / forum post with the most time played or the most achievements unlocked.

Made a small tweak to the search page - advanced options now in a clickable dropdown, and search button next to the input field. Looks better, works better on mobile -> https://www.gamingonlinux.com/search-articles/

I thought about it for a long time, the only thing I can think of:

More variety in reactions to articles/messages than just "like" would be great.
I think we should avoid things like thumbs-down, and do more specific things like: 🥰 🤣 😫 🤔 🤬

Well done on keeping the site from getting so horribly enshittified. It is one of the few sites I really love reading things on still.

The article mailing list has been upgraded with some fancier formatting, along with the article image to go along with each one. Looks a *lot* nicer.

That is something I've wanted to do, I'll look into the best way to do it.

another feedback:
* I send a comment with a link in it
* it ends up in the mod queue
* I try to go back in the browser
* the site warns me I might lose data as if my comment is not saved

edit: if I add a link to a comment by editing it, it ends up in the mod queue naturally but I don't get the popup telling me it is in the queue.

On the homepage we see the tags under each article but when going to page 2 and next we don't see them anymore.

This should be solved now if you're using the back button, let me know how you get on.
Another upgrade recently - the daily / weekly article mailing list now has proper formatting, and the main article image :)

But something bigger - the news reviews / thoughts carousel, dedicated feedback on that here -> https://www.gamingonlinux.com/forum/topic/6645/

Wide Mode just leveled up (available in your settings ) - still a heavy W.I.P.

Now the article list doesn't stretched out, it splits into columns to make better use of space.

Wowsers, wide mode changes things. Sometimes not for the better.

It works great in the forum, great for the front-page, but for articles there are some weirdness:
* Embedded videos are now SUPER-LARGE, whereas embedded images are the same size.
* The text paragraphs are also incrediby wide which makes them harder to read. Particularily the quotes which are often long sentences and now I have to significantly scan sideways.
* Embedded images float in the middle, often far from the text.

I think it would make sense to add a max-width limit to paragraphs and embeds in articles. Wider than default, but not completely unconstrained.
Maybe add some more sideways padding in wide mode to limit the offsets as well. It looks a bit weird when I have 3cm of black, then gray box and the text starts in less than an 'em'.

Yep, all good thoughts, thanks for the feedback. It'll be worked on gradually which is why it's not fully announced to everyone yet. I definitely agree it needs some improvements for articles - that hasn't started yet :)

Wide mode articles tweaked now, they are wider than the default mode, but not so painfully wide and looks better - for those who continue to want this wide mode - feedback is needed.

Wide mode is much better now, it's not nearly as wide as before.

Updated the category picker for searching articles on this page: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/search-articles/ (and at the top when you click any category).

If you selected more than one category, the URL would go like:
https://www.gamingonlinux.com/index.php?module=articles&view=multiple&catid%5B%5D=16&catid%5B%5D=6&type=any
Now it's much nicer like this:
https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/categories/6,16/

+ The link at the top on the homepage for "Reviews & Thoughts" is now set to its own page:
https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/reviews-and-thoughts/

Can we have an option to disable the review & Thoughts. Its way too messy on widemode, too much stuff going on with that section of the webpage before i can get to actual news (though maybe i just need to get used to it. at first look it looks a bit too messy at least to me)
Love the other changes on the widemode though. Thanks.
