Title: GamingOnLinux Funding Drive
Liam Squires-Hand 2 hours ago
Hello everyone, Liam here. Today, I want to announce to the forum our Funding Drive to remove Google Adsense.

Adverts suck, we all know this - but they are a necessary evil to keep websites funded and online. But, Google Adsense is just terrible. I'm growing frustrated with it (and with Google as a whole), so I want to disable it for everyone.

Here's the deal:

If we can reach $2K per month on [the GamingOnLinux Patreon](https://www.patreon.com/gamingonlinux), Adsense will be disabled for everyone. Even if we dip slightly under it's fine for a month or two, but the point is to be as close (or above) as we possibly can keep it. That's the level at which I can happily disable it and everything is funded.

One caveat - we have a single dedicated sponsor spot above the comments for direct support. Right now it has adsense showing (because no sponsor), but there's a potential sponsor coming that wants that spot - that would not be blocked. But Patreon supporters at certain levels can block those directly too (and all adverts). The sponsor section just uses basic image / link HTML served by us directly.

Current Status

Right now we're on: $1.76K / month - so it's not even a particularly big jump.

On Patreon we have 710 total members, 352 of which are paid.

Let's see how it goes!
