Alternatives to popular games that don't work on Linux, Steam Deck and SteamOS

With the amount of games that block Linux platforms including SteamOS and Steam Deck, here's your guide to some great alternatives. Also including games not available on PC to show alternatives.

Sadly, multiple publishers don't currently support Linux platforms with their anti-cheat. It's a growing problem with the likes of Electronic Arts, Activision, Ubisoft, Rockstar and more deciding not to enable their anti-cheat to work on Linux. Plenty actually do though!

These are only suggestions, and some might not fit specifically into the same genre, as often there simply aren't direct replacements but they should hopefully get you going. The point is just to offer some alternatives that might end up fitting hopefully a bit close to what you want. This list also focuses on Steam for the alternatives, since it comes with Proton and makes it simple.

Battlefield

Call of Duty

Counter-Strike 2

What would GTFO be an alternative to?

For the extraction shooters, I'll suggest Incursion: Red River. It doesn't have any PvP like Tarkov, but it's still an alternative that works on Linux (desktop, at least; I haven't tried on the Deck at all).

CS2 is probably the closest alternative to Valorant as well.

When ARC Raiders releases, that'll be a good alternative for Tarkov, assuming it supports Linux like The Finals.

Alternative to Escape from Tarkov bcs it is a PvE Extraction shooter but in some alternative setting.

Looking it up properly, GTFO appears to be really nothing like Tarkov. Needing to extract doesn't necessarily mean it's an extraction shooter - they're a lot more of a specific genre.

GTFO would be more like Helldivers 2 or Deep Rock Galactic, they're just co-op shooters.
