We have our first brutal glimpse into the world of Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival, the upcoming horror-action game from Saber Interactive. It's due out sometime in 2026, we don't know exactly when that will be.

More about it: "Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival introduces a totally new Hellraiser story starring Aidan, who must unlock the dark powers of the mysterious Genesis Configuration puzzle box to save his girlfriend from the terrifying horrors of Hell. Discover a realm of terrors as you take on dark cultist worshippers, sex-crazed deviants, and infernal monstrosities, harnessing unique abilities and an arsenal of jaw-dropping weapons that can be instruments of both misery and delight. You’ll have many ways to defend yourself – but can you save yourself from an eternity of torment?"

Game Highlights:

  • A Terrifying New Story in the Hellraiser Universe: Discover a chilling new story in the iconic horror franchise as you unwittingly kickstart Pinhead’s (voiced by Doug Bradley) ritual to unleash the ultimate torment on the world.
  • Unleash the Power of the Box: Harness the unique abilities of the Genesis Configuration in combination with an arsenal of earthly weapons to inflict bone-breaking, flesh-searing pain (or pleasure?) upon your enemies.
  • Battle for Survival Against Hell’s Armies: Take on Hell's wretches, deviants, cultists, and its most infernal priests in an unholy war for your immortal soul.

Looks like we may be in for quite the treat, if you like horror-action games that is. Might be a little too scary for me, then again - can anything beat the terror of Alien: Isolation - still the scariest game I've ever played. Nothing has topped it so far for me. Anyway, no doubt it will work well in Proton for Linux / SteamOS and the Steam Machine.

Looks somewhat cheesier than I was hoping, but I'll remain cautiously optimistic.

I'm actually not a huge Hellraiser fan, so it's possible my internal model of the franchise isn't up to snuff, but it feels weird to be running around with a shotgun blowing things away like it's just another boomer shooter. Hopefully the atmosphere/tone isn't lost in fast-paced action combat. To my untutored gaze it feels like kind of a mismatch.

I'm overwhelmingly happy its a single player adventure and not another boring asymmetric multiplayer game like most horror franchises have been doing. I agree with Cybolic though, looks a bit cheesy from the trailer.
