I'd be really impressed if they put that Presto animation program on Github as well. But I don't really see that happening.

The Steam Hardware Survey for August 2016 shows Linux has grown again
By MayeulC, 4 September 2016 at 12:00 am UTC

Quoting: rkfgI've got the survey this month and surprisingly it has one new question! That's really rare as it hasn't changed for years. This is what it looks like:

Just got it for the first time in a long period, and got this question.
Also, it turns out that you can't get it if steam starts in BP mode (even if you close it afterwards).

A tiny fluctuation, virtually meaningless. And still not polling Big Picture users, SteamOS or otherwise.

I think just CDPR was complaining about bad press because they probably had planned a SteamOS version.

Since they're not on DX12 they could never have hoped for Vulkan. The reason would be interesting, not judging if the port was done or not, but their decision base (financial, talent, ..) would be interesting. They're certainly not short on money after TW3, but they've to plan 5 years ahead.

I kinda figured the GOG Support rep was wrong and now this confirms it. I stopped holding my breath for this game on coming to Linux, hopefully will come.

Quoting: BeamboomI did think it was a little bit odd that support at GOG should be this well informed of such plans (or lack thereof). Even if they are owned by the studio, anyone who's worked for an employer this large (they are close to 400 employees as far as I understand) everyone does not know about everything that goes on.

They are not even located in the same country: GOG offices are located in Cyprus, while CD Projekt is in Poland.

Actually both are located in Poland, but GOG is registered in Cyprus. Kinda like how many US companies are registered in Nevada or Delaware even though they may conduct little or no business there. I do believe that GOG has a US office in California aswell.

As I know law in my country, they can get money support from government as game developer, so they are registered in Poland. If GOG platform was registered homeland they will have to pay larger taxes.
PS I'm not sure i can explain that in english, so sorry if I accidentally mislead you

Quotethis is likely the last time I will be writing about The Witcher 3.
That's a good idea! Let's just settle down this whole topic and move on to others games where we actually have some real news to report or informations to discus.

Maybe thanks to this we will have a final status.

A VP port would be fine for me. TW2 port sucks, but newer ones work pretty well (even though Feral and Aspyr ports work much better)

From the GitHub:
QuoteUSD is currently supported on Linux platforms and has been built and tested on CentOS 7 and RHEL 7.

We are actively working on porting USD to both Windows and Mac platforms. Support for both platforms should be considered experimental at this time. Currently, the tree will build on Mac, but will not build on Windows.

So, now I have one more reason to see their movies....even if I'm not a child anymore! :D

This is great, really shows how much opensource is used for everything now and the incredible work companies working with community together can achieve.

We just need gaming with vulkan to take off on Linux. If companies could just give one ( non selfish ) push the rewards would be reaped over the long term. Sadly game companies and their shareholders don't think beyond their own current account balance.

Thanks for posting Liam.

( Also great advertisement for system76, glad they are not using Unity )

Linux actually has a huge presence in Hollywood. Every special effects shop uses Linux almost exclusively, from animation software to massive render farms to the final online edit for a finished film. Linux is big, big, big in the world. It's only on the desktop where it continues to struggle.

Maybe it's just simple as this previous member of staff having some type of Linux antipathy? Seems like a straight out emotional response now. "no plans of releasing The Witcher 3 on Linux and there never were any"...

To make us once again feel like, well, you know, something about classes and seconds :o

Yeah, I would never ask confirmation or even take confirmation from support for such things. Regarding small features, prices, etc. yes, but they aren't that well informed about any future plans.

W3 still might not be happening on Linux, but I will guess it is not that simple 'yes' or 'no' answer at this point, which makes sense.

Of course not, there is no DirectX 11 support yet.

I managed to play Subterrain in Wine just fine and that uses DirectX 11 (or so my terminal output says) but maybe it falls back to DX9 mode somewhere??
