The open source Vulkan driver for AMD can now run Dota 2
By gabsd84, 26 August 2016 at 4:18 pm UTC Likes: 1

It is amazing how fast radv is coming along but also not surprising, both Dave and Bas are very experienced with Mesa and AMD hardware as both of them have done lots of work on RadeonSI.

It will be interesting to see what AMD do going forward. If radv is feature complete in the next few months, will AMD still open source their proprietary Vulkan driver or just pile in and work on radv and drop the proprietary driver? Will be interesting to see.

In [TAB] mode (I forgot what they called it), you can change spinning and steering directions.

Well, I tested this build and so far I have this to say:

- there's no such thing as "suspensions" it's just "suspension" or even a "suspension assembly" when referring to a vehicle's suspension.
- for whatever reason no matter what I try to do, I keep building a car whose wheels will spin in different directions and so I am end up going in circles.

Crusader Kings II: The Reaper’s Due now available, brings more death and pestilence

I think a lot of people didn't understand Conclave. They were used to ruling without resistance whereas Conclave introduced some realistic politics into the equation.

Ok, thanks for the reply. So, from what you said it looks like Conclave is working fine now, and it's configurable. It means that I will buy it, since it is on sale. I really like the idea of a "council" that you have to fight. And yes, at some point the game became too "easy" because you could just steamroll through the entire map, and keeping those regions and their rulers happy wasn't that hard once you had enough experience managing realms in this game. It looked unrealistic too me and Conclave addresses some of the issues in this case. I'm really happy that it works fine now.

Yup, actually it works "better" without the option ;)

I was expecting it but I wanted to try anyway, the game doesn't work with an old Radeon HD 6870 with the open source drivers.

I was actually surprised it launched and I can browse the menu and launch a world. The only problem is that not everything is displayed, like, the ground ;)

As I said, it's not a surprise (Alien Isolation doesn't work either) and I'm planning on buying an RX 480 sooner than later. Just waiting for kernel 4.7 to get into Fedora 24 ;)

Hello guys.

Did anyone try this DLC? I've heard that Conclave kinds "destroyed" the game (I don't own it and I'm not sure if I want to buy it because of the bad reviews), does this DLC fix those issues?
Is it worth buying Conclave if I also have this DLC or should I just skip it? From what I've read in the first few dev diaries some time ago this DLC should be a pretty good one.

How would this even work? How could MS embrace, extend and extinguish Linux? Fork the kernel (and/or the GNU userland), "extend" it in incompatible ways, and convince the world to switch to their fork and all of the current copyright holders to drop GPL? Funny stuff. :)

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided looks like it may be getting a Linux & SteamOS release
By Seegras, 26 August 2016 at 9:36 am UTC Likes: 1

Quoting: TemplateRBefore Square Enix is thinking about a SteamOS-/Linux-Version of "DeusEx Mankind Dvided" , they should port the predecessor "Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut" first.

I think they should release this one first, officially, because it already runs, albeit badly:

"Deus Ex The Fall", uses Unity 4.3.4f1, needs LD_LIBRARY_PATH for libsteam.api.so; Wwise sound engine wrong version, playable

Quoting: Mblackwell
Quoting: BeamboomOh man I hope they haven't broken an otherwise great game with microtransactions... If so I will never forgive Square Enix!

Yes and no. The microtransactions apparently don't apply to the main game but just a weird "assault" mode that apparently is just kind of crappy in general (so, yes microtransactions but most people probably won't notice or care). However if you got the pre-order DLC all of the consumables (praxis kits, ammo, health, etc) are one time use only. You keep the preorder weapons across saves/new games but only your first playthrough in which you redeemed the DLC gets the consumables. And that's just terrible. Both silly and terrible.

Because, come on, there will definitely be hacks and trainers and such for this game at some point. What's the benefit to Square Enix? Someone isn't going to buy the DLC again.

Thanks a lot for that clarification!

@tripy:
I misunderstood you, as I thought you meant space exploration. In that case KSP is definitely not the game for you, as the KSP planets don't offer any lore, apart from a few hard to find easter eggs. They are basically what most planets in real life are: gigantic rocks, devoid of any life (except Laythee, which likely has some algae or similar, as it has free oxygen...). The only exploration you can do in KSP is find out how the dunes behind the next dune look like, and of course exploring the physics of space-flight.

@nepo:
Have you watched the video? It literally sounds like No Man's Sky - I guess the sound effects are creative commons or something...

Be wary of Microsoft's interest in Linux. Remember their "embrace and extend" strategy, which is really "search and destroy". They'd love nothing more than to shut the whole thing down.

You are right about their strategy, but I just think its not really workable for Linux and opensource anymore. Its got too big with support from much bigger powers than M$ alone. I think they are aware of this as well. For sure in server business. For desktop and gaming though... I am too puzzled myself to predict anything.

It's not as insanely hard as Maldita Castilla, but it's still quite challenging (both were inspired by Ghosts n' Goblins in some way.). Good platformer overall. Graphics and animations are very well done, as well as music. Combat is refreshing with all the special moves and attacks.
