To get the binary you have to go to the Games "Properties" and select the Beta in the Beta-Tab. After that it begins to download the game.

Well, to pitchfork one developer wouldn't be enough. Meanwhile I have 300+ Games for Linux on Steam and my Homedir is a bloody mess :/ Some save in My\ Games, others in .local/share, other create their own (Dot-)Directories and so on.
I think thats something which should be discussed with Valve & the Developers, esp. if there is an useful Standard.
On the other hand, it's on my gaming machine, so I'm not really bothered by it. :D
Back to the game: It also runs pretty well on my Nvidia GTX 8800 (9 years old). No problems at all so far.
It's an awesome game and I waited to play the new 1.3 update on Linux, which adds lots of new stuff to game. :)

Quoting: slaapliedjeI still can't kill that first big hairy beast in Bloodborne, and there isn't any weapon / armor upgrades I can get beyond what I have, so I'm stuck constantly trying to defeat the Cleric Beast. It's not a question of weapon & armor upgrade. You also need to find the weakspot and the right tactic to defeat the beast.

It's not a question of If I'm a good hunter, as sooner or later I always get my prey. The question is if the game is challenging enough for me?
As hunter I need a challenge to enjoy the hunt. A hunt without resourceful prey isn't a good hunt and no fun at all. So tell me about the challenge I can await in this game?

That's good news and ease things a bit after this "ghastly" week on GOG. But I'm still mad at you guys!

Two Call of Cthulhu Games, Both Breach & Clear Games, Interstellaria and TIS-100 Now On GOG For Linux

Nice article, but may be you should extend it by games which GOG hasn't released this week. There we have NOT on GOG but on Steam:
- Cities in Motion Collection
- Metro 2033: Redux
- Metro Last Light Redux

Quoting: GuestThey only accept refunds if you have a technical issue, and I guess if you are not using one of the exact two distros they officially support they’ll refuse. So you await from GOG that they introduce DRM to measure how long you have played your game? GOG has a 30-day Refund policy and steam only a 14-day with max 2h playtime.

Opinion: Can Linux Be A Viable Gaming Platform? Thoughts From A Sympathetic Game Developer

The reason for not bundling Libraries is coming from 15-20 years ago, as then we didn't have that plenty of disk & ram space as we have now. Yes there were conflicts with other libraries AT THIS TIME. But this is history! So please forget it and let it die! Thanks!

Quoting: jonprydeThe problem also isn't in the game devs not packaging their libraries with them. Packaging libs that could, in theory, cause conflicts with other libraries is generally a development no-no in a lot of ways. Sure you can do it in some cases, but in this case, I don't believe it to be a good idea. Games generally don't get the same level of updates that core libs may get.Pardon me? If done right, a bundled library causes NO conflicts. So it's not a development no-no, it is a viable option. Why? Because Libraries APIs & Functions change. I have some old Linux Games which have been developed your way, and don't run with newer version of this library. With bundled libraries that wouldn't have been a problem. Which is the whole idea of bundling it. Static builds would be nice, but thats a no-go with GPL libraries, except you plan to release the source of the game anyway :D. Otherwise it's a GPL violation.

Quoting: jonprydeHonestly, I can see SteamOS becoming the defacto linux gaming platform. however, it's nothing really more than a custom Debian system, with some properitary drivers pre-built and ready to update at any time. It's not. It is already! But to be honest just pick a mainstream distribution and build your game for it. In the End it will run on almost every Linux Distribution. Just tell me the requirements or bring your environment (Libraries). What is a Linux distribution? Nothing more then a selected and preconfigured bundle of software with a Linux kernel.
Quoting: jonprydeCan linux gaming be a real thing? Sure. Is the community ready for it? Questionable. I see arguments both for and against this. It ultimately is up to the developers themselves to decide if it's worth it. No amount of "fixing" a distribution will make a difference in this. (it might help!)The Community is ready, and we support developers a lot more then other platforms. Not will you only receive a bug report, you will also get a fix for that issue with it. I have seen that many times on steam and other platforms already. That is what differs the Linux community from others.
