I'm loving those physical releases! Not as good as a big box release of course, but still very nice for the shelf

Speaking of big boxes: Since IndieBox doesn't exist any more (in it's previous form at least), Fangamer seems to be one of the few companies left to produce physical Linux releases. And boy, those are amazing: Just have a look at the Collector's Editions of Stardew Valley [External Link] or Undertale [External Link]!

I finished Haven Moon. And my Steam client keeps bugging me to play Quern .
Do it - it's the best Myst-alike game I know of and even surpasses it in some points, especially the environmental puzzles

I've never heard of Haven Moon though. Thanks for the hint!

Quoting: scaineI played a LOT of this game back in its (original) day. It led me on to ET: Quake Wars too, which was another massive time-sync. Happy memories.
Quake Wars is one of my favorite games of all time! I have a copy I install on every Linux partition I inhabit.
Quake Wars...I heard about it when it just came out, but never got into it for some reason...think I had a lot going during that time. Do people still play it? I mean, are there active servers and stuff? Is it available for free download from somewhere? I've been playing a lot of Quake Champions lately, would love to dive into this one for a few rounds if it's still active. Thanks for reminding me :)
Wondering the same thing. I bought it on Ebay a few years ago with the intent of trying it out, since I'd heard such great things. Is there still an active community of people playing to make the time invested in getting it running worthwhile? I know that was the case a few years back...
I just wanted to check ingame how many people are online to answer this, and realized that the master server has been shut down :-/ Direct connections (and LAN games of course) are still possible however, and it seems a few people are indeed still playing it: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Enemy_Territory:_Quake_Wars#Issues_fixed [External Link] contains references to server lists, and at the time I' writing this 37 people seem to be playing actively.

The game was a lot of fun, but also needed quite a few people playing due to the large and open maps - in contrast to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, which can also be played with a smaller amount of people, so we always preferred that one at LAN parties...

VRWorkout is a free and open source VR fitness rhythm game

If I understand this correctly the PC (i.e. non Occulus Quest) version can be used with any VR kit. However according to https://github.com/mgschwan/VRWorkout/ [External Link] SteamVR is required - does that mean that one has to have a Steam account, or is this a component that can that be used independently?

I don't have a VR set yet, but this game definitely sounds tempting :-)

Why not? They support GOG with Windows versions.
To be honest: Yes, there are more games on GOG than I expected: ~70 games on Steam (excluding DLC and such) vs. ~30 on GOG.

I guess my bitterness is coming from the fact that almost all of their physical games are bound to Steam (which imho totally defeats the purpose of a physical medium - why would I buy an offline media if I have to be online to be able to use it anyway?), so they basically killed retail games for me. This includes Crowdfunding promises where a DRM free physical media including a Linux version was announced, and a Windows only Steam disc was delivered.

They're also the publisher of Wasteland 3 and yet the Linux/macOS versions are on GOG...
Yes, that's one of two(!) games, together with Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Both games were crowdfunding projects where a DRM free Linux version was promised, so I guess they just had to upload the GOG version...

An alternative to F(x)tec devices are the devices from Planet Computers:
Gemini: https://store.planetcom.co.uk/products/gemini-pda-1 [External Link]
Cosmo: https://store.planetcom.co.uk/products/cosmo-communicator [External Link]
Astro Slide: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/astro-slide-5g-transformer/x/3442310#/ [External Link]

All of them provide an excellent keyboard AND support multiple operating systems (including the option the install several systems in parallel): Android is shipped by default, but Debian is also available, as well as Sailfish OS and Kali Linux on the Gemini (but not Ubuntu Touch) - https://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/Main_Page [External Link] has all the details.

I'd be really interested the hear about the quality of Linux support for the F(x)tec devices, though: A friend of mine ordered the Livermorium extension for the Motorola Moto Z, and I ordered Planet Computers' Gemini when both companies were running their crowdfunding campaigns at almost the same time. Unfortunately Motorola then basically dropped support for the Moto Z, and he opted for the refund instead of getting the F(x)tec device developed from the shards of the Livermorium project - so I haven't seen any F(x)tec device in real live...

For those interested in the Planet Computers devices: Yes, Linux support is there, but it's a bit rough around the edges and progress is quite slow - though it's steadily getting better over time. In fact I've (exclusively) been using Sailfish OS on my Gemini for a few years now... And for the Cosmo telephony and SMS are possible from within Debian(!) :-)

The "no bad language" part is interesting - personally I found the main character to be rather rude (at least in the English version, maybe the Polish original is different), always blaming others and insulting them. To be honest I wouldn't let my children play it
Fortunately they provide a demo version, the link can be found in the FAQ document on the bottom of the game's website https://zidandzniw.pl/ [External Link] - I didn't want to paste the random Onedrive link which can't be verified here

Gladly entering the competition for a game key, but only if this is an itch key.

To be honest I wouldn't buy this game myself - it's just not my type of game. But it may be incredibly handy to have a license available for playing a multiplayer game with friends :-)
