Calling All Web Designers, We Need A New Look

Seems like your changes broke the mobile site on my phone Liam. On the desktop is does definitely look improved though.
Having a clean, good looking website is important, and yes you're right in thinking that it needs as update. This site is afaik the no. 1 Linux gaming site...it should look professional. A good designer will do that for you. I'm in the same boat, I do my own web design on occasion, but it always looks slightly off and half-baked.
There are some sites where you can hire designers for a fee. This could be worthy of a small fundraising campaign.
I respect that some people are very happy with the current design, it's certainly not bad....but it could be a lot better.

I realised years ago that NVidia was much much better supported under Linux and I've stayed with them ever since. Sad to see things have only improved marginally.
The comments on that YouTube video are amazing...at least the 1-2 pages I read. This might actually have an effect..thanks for all the people writing in complaining, Linux users have spoken!
I'd have no issues running AMD cards if they were well supported...cheaper cards would be welcome.

Quoting: abelthorneAh that's super interesting. Yeah I was fooled by the fact they were both published by Delphine.Quoting: drmothGreat work on all fronts. I never played this but I loved Flashback, another title by the same French developer with similar rotoscoped animation.Well, not the same developer, as Another World was made by Éric Chahi while Flashback was made by Paul Cuisset. They were working for the same publisher, though (Delphine Software). I'm not sure Flashback was made with the same engine or if it was "strongly inspired" by it but I seem to remember that there was a bit of tension between the two developers at the time, like using the engine without authorization or copying it.

I'm guessing Ryan used OpenAL because...he's probably used to it, and I'm pretty sure it's more fully fledged than SDL_mixer. OpenAL soft, maintained by Chris Robinson, is an awesome piece of open source software - http://kcat.strangesoft.net/openal.html [External Link]

Politics may not be welcome when talking about games, but is totally related to game development. Which is why this article was interesting (healthy socialist/capitalist economy gives good subsidies and grants to game industry). Support for the Scandinavian game scene totally reflects the cultural values of its countries.
I also agree, chrisq's comments are rather hyperbolic and misleading, while the article was quite balanced and well written. And no, I'm not Norwegian but reasonably well informed.

Feral Interactive Wish To Know Why You Game On Linux

In no order. Linux is my main OS on several PCs. I only use OSX/Windows if I have to for certain commercial jobs that demand it.
- Not being locked into a proprietary system that forces me to do things certain ways
- Freedom/Ethics
- Customization/power user
- Friendly, funny, smart community
- The fact that Linux can run on anything. Having Linux skills is very useful, and very powerful.
- Cheaper (no OS tax)
I never was an avid gamer...until gaming came to Linux!!
And by the way OSX is fine, but I don't like Apple and their policies. Windows is just yucky. I used it a lot in the past and I'm very glad to wash my hands of it.
