Really, one of the major reasons for not running 32-bit is RAM. Even if you have 4GB, your 32-bit system can only read about 3GB of it! Please upgrade people!

Wow, what a great company. They understand how it should be done. Very impressed. Needless to say I've been thoroughly enjoying XCOM of late, very easy to pick up and very enjoyable.

Trolling Delays Linux Release Of The Stanley Parable
23 Jun 2014 at 10:28 pm UTC

Just to confirm what Dr McCoy said, +1 in my mind is just a show of hands and enthusiasm. It's a way of saying, "I'll buy this when it comes out". It's also a technique used by a small community to raise its profile, when often being outnumbered.

I was poised to buy Stanley Parable, I've heard wonderful things about this game but I've become cautious about buying things until they've been properly ported.

Don't lose faith Gran PC, there's a wonderfully warm and fuzzy Linux community away from the Steam trolls...

XCOM: Enemy Unknown Released For Linux

You must be able to get Crossover + MS Office working on 64-bit. That's what crossover specializes in...give it another shot I say!

For example, install Office in 64-bit using playonlinux (from 2012):

64-bit is the norm now. Even Canonical is recommending 64-bit installs.

Quoting: CoolHandSeems like a "Space Hulk" ripoff to me... As we already have Space Hulk on Linux/SteamOS, can't see myself getting this..
Aaah finally the day has come, Linux users are complaining about having too many games.

By the way, this looks like it has nothing in common with Space Hulk (which is an excellent game btw, get it if you don't have it). I'm not into PDLs (hilarious term) but this actually looks good (says the SF fan in me)

Rich Geldreich Who Worked On The VOGL OpenGL Debugger Has Left Valve

Quoting: GuestOtherwise, I just saw a lot words with no substance aimed directly at trying to derail the topic.
I totally agree with mirv. This is just gargled tech-speak which says nothing meaningful at all. I smell troll.

As an example:

First you say you know nothing about low level Radeon (why Radeon??) GPU programming , then you say it's easier to program it at a low level.

Then suddenly Cmake and Autotools is a "crazy SDK". Quite hilarious really.

In OpenGL no-one mixes shader compilation with run-time GPU programming. GLSL shaders aren't precompiled like in HLSL, but it's instead done on start-up (so slightly longer load times).
