What I want to see in 2023 for Linux, Gaming, Steam Deck and more

Mostly what I want is more free time to actually play things (and when I do have time, to not deliberate what to play for so long that I end up not playing anything). I'd like to see Half-Life: Alyx re-released for traditional gamers so I can actually play it.
The continuing growth of the AMD graphics users on Linux (which should have over taken Nivdia users in the GoL statistics this month if the trend continued) and the likewise growth of OSS graphics driver usage.
It'd be nice to get a native Linux release of Skyrim and/or Fallout 4, especially since "Microsoft loves Linux" and keeps hyping the Steam Deck.

Steam Deck only got 2% of my gameplay, but I played 9 games over 27 sessions? Considering I mostly just use my Steam Deck to watch videos streamed from my desktop or play rpcs3, I'm surprised the session and game count is so high.

Pretty lacklustre choices for the Steam Awards -- only four categories have Linux games as options. :(
I doubt I'll buy anything in the sales, I barely have time to play anything these days.

Intel using DXVK (part of Steam Proton) for their Windows Arc GPU DX 9 drivers

Quoting: Liam DaweThe plot thickens, even though they're clearing using DXVK and include the license they seemingly tried scrubbing mentions of it away [External Link] (see the whole thread there). Hopefully they at the very least put their changes out in the open and not keep their forked code closed.Someone needs to tell "Longhorn" about grep -i. >_>
Dwarf Fortress arrives on Steam, works on Linux desktop and Steam Deck

I got gifted a copy by an ex-coworker who knows how much I love Dwarf Fortress. I'm playing the tutorial for shits and giggles and while I know it's really dumbed down for newbies, it seems a little too dumbed down. Maybe the help guides fill in the gaps, but there's no explanation of how to "prepare carefully", how to manage dwarf labours, how to check your stockpiles, how the health/military systems work, how to raise, butcher and process animals and use their by-products, how and why to avoid carp*, how to create and manage burrows, the importance of booze, etc.
Obviously nothing will ever come close to replacing the DFWiki [External Link], but anyone thinking the tutorial will set prepare them for the long game will encounter much Fun.
I'm also struggling with unlearning the shortcuts I know and love -- the game feels so much slower with the removal of keyboard-only gameplay. I'm sure I'll get used to it, and if it plays as well on the Deck as it does on a regular PC (which would be impossible with tradition DF, which I can't even play without a numpad at this point), then it'll pretty neat.

I was really disappointed to discover the full set of missions wasn't playable yet when I played recently. Glad to see they're still getting worked on.
