Great series, up until 4. Still hoping Code Veronica will come to PC at some point -- don't fancy fishing my copy out of the attic any time soon.

Surprising to see such a big increase for Arch (and Manjaro) percentages while SteamOS remains almost static. I wonder if Valve have changed how SteamOS identifies itself, or if more people are making the jump to Arch-based distros for some reason.

I've updated my profile to reflect that I'm using Wayland now. Aside from a couple of niggles (notifications cause flickering when in a full screen app such as mpv, steam notifications appearing as all black when Steam is closed to systray {fix [External Link]}, selection buffer/clipboard behaviour being inconsistent between Wayland-native windows and XWayland windows), the experience has been smooth enough that I've not felt the need to revert. I've even switched to sddm-git so I can do away with X running at all [External Link].

Steam Deck hits over 4,000 titles marked either Verified or Playable

Quoting: GuestIt's currently sitting at 1850 verified and 2093 playable, for a total of 3943 games according to Valve's official numbers.I'd guess https://www.protondb.com/ [External Link]. I don't think Steam provide an official count, and as we've already established, the number is meaningless anyway. A game that is verified today could be unplayable by tomorrow (but still listed as verified). Likewise, a game that is listed as unsupported could work fine with a little tweaking.
Where are you seeing "over 4000"?

I've requested a refund for the base game and DLC. Shame, I could see this being one of the games that I actively played online from my Steam Deck.
If they ever rework the backend to drop whichever 3rd party caused this train wreck and reimplement private crossplay matches for Linux users, I'll happily re-buy the game. From the announcement though, this is the last update they're making for this game. :(

Steam Deck Beta gets scaling for external displays, new "Preview" testing branch

I just thought we were past the whole 'WiFi sucks on Linux' era. At least we're not still heavily reliant on ndiswrapper...

Quoting: MarlockCheers, I'd already found '1)' as a workaround for the time being, good to know there are other options. :)Quoting: WorMzyOnly had my deck for ~24 hours, but so far 'stable' has had issues connecting to wifi consistently, didn't log me into steam when I switched to desktop mode the first time (and consequently couldn't use the OSD keyboard to enter my password+steamcode, had to use an OTG connector to hook up a spare USB keyboard), and doesn't always switch between gaming/desktop modes when I tell it to.If your issue is related to 5GHz wifi instabilities, the beta OS branch (now renamed "preview") is a good bet to get a potential fix from Valve that's being tested
Might try Preview. :P
if you don't want to go to preview or that fix doesn't help, here is my list of common wifi workarounds for the Deck:
1) enable developer mode, then go to the new "developer" tab in steam settings and disable wifi power savings
2) unhide your wifi ssid if hidden (hiding it is well know to not really be useful for privacy nor for security, by the way)
3) if 2,4GHz and 5GHz bands are joined in a single ssid, split them in the router configs and use only one of them
4) choose a fixed wifi channel instead of leaving it in auto (configure the same channel in both the router and the deck)
5) try a different router brand/model or a smartphone wifi hotspot... some people have issues only with certains devices but not with others
6) try an ethernet dongle instead of the deck's wifi
7) try a wifi dongle with well-known good linux support instead of using the built-in wifi chip
I just thought we were past the whole 'WiFi sucks on Linux' era. At least we're not still heavily reliant on ndiswrapper...

You should avoid the stock Firefox install on Steam Deck as it's badly outdated (updated)

Quoting: GuestFalkon, although with the qt5-webengine package (and related deps) you're probably looking at ~200MiB.Quoting: WorMzyInteresting choice to have firefox baked into the image -- it'll pull in the gtk3 stack () and increase the size of the image considerably (would add ~300MiB to my plasma system). If they just need a basic browser for people to use to navigate to flathub or whatever, konqueror might fill that niche (+~25MiB).Konqueror is based on webkit, right?
I wonder if there is a browser using chromium web engine (still blink?) using qt5.
