Steam Beta adds plenty of Game Recording improvements plus a Steam Play update

As someone who doesn't care about streaming/publishing gameplays but occasionally wants to save clips of fun(ny) moments to my own archive, I'm perfectly happy with steam game recording tool, especially after they added the 'save clip' hotkey. Editing (cropping) is a bit cumbersome, but acceptable. The crashes (on saving, downloading, exiting) were very annoying in the beginning, but now they got rid of most of them, or hopefully all.

Croc Legend of the Gobbos remaster will be a GOG exclusive

Quoting: JustinWoodI thought the point of GoG making available all these old games was to preserve them
It's just a marketing angle. Meanwhile there are others* who do actual preservation for free, and GOG, as well as IP holders, sometimes just take their work and sell it as their own.

[*] probably it's not always legal to link to them, but here's one example: http://www.softpres.org/ [External Link] (no downloads)

Quoting: JustinWoodI kind of thought GoG was supposed to be the old game library of Alexandria, at least to some extent.
I'm not familiar with these times but wasn't the library free to access? So, something more like this [External Link]?

Yeah, we'll see about that. I've bought many classic games at gog thinking they would surely only be available on gog since they basically brought them back to life, and lo and behold, they are now listed on steam and even using screenshots made by the gog team. Ultimately it's up to whomever has the IP rights.

Here's the 20 most-played demos from Steam Next Fest October 2024 edition

It's like magazine coverdisks with 1-2 demos per floppy, except now we have twenty. ;-)
Two of these are on my wishlist, and I also got mail from Valve informing that a game from my wishlist published a demo, which is nice. I might take a closer look at the others, too.

Please remind me, will these demos disappear right after NextFest or will they stay available? Or at least stay in my library if I install them now?

Assassin's Creed Mirage arrives on Steam as Ubisoft return to Valve's store

Quoting: SakuretsuNot interested but it's funny to see how it only took a little bit bankruptcy for the suits at Ubisoft to decide to go back to Steam.
Now they just need to understand that denuvo and superfluous client annoy people and lower the sales, and they're back on track.
