Quoting: Mountain ManThat is one of the ironies of media piracy. Pirates are the scourge of the industry, but in many cases, they are the only source for games, movies, television shows, and music that are no longer commercially available.
Piracy might have killed Amiga gaming, but guess who is still keeping and making available even the most obscure titles even today? Games that would have been unplayable without cracked code protections and even unavailable because the original floppies are long dead and they had physical copy protections, so nobody but talented crackers would have been able to rip them. I haven't downloaded any pirated games for over two decades, but very recently I read a post by an indie dev who said they had just two copies of their game purchased on steam, and one of the buyers put it up on piratebay or torrent, or some such. Yup, they're still here.

I played through Doom, Doom2, Master levels, TNT, Plutonia and nerve.wad earlies this year, so it was a really bad timing on their part. :P Might try later to see if my saves from gzdoom are able to trigger the achievements, but for now I'll just play Legacy of Rust in gzdoom as well.

Not sure what your problem was, but I completed the game in 2019 without issue. Was one of my favourite games.
Maybe it was a pebkac.

Given Valve's track record, definitely not Risk of Rain 3.

Quoting: pbI thought "prologues" were no longer allowed on Steam, as well as advertising other games in the description?
At no point have Valve said they're not allowed. But with the demo system updates, they now make less sense.
Ok, so maybe prologues and other demos-pretending-not-to-be-demos are not explicitly forbidden, but: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/steamworks/announcements/detail/4201376568915048836 [External Link] "No images, links, or widgets pointing to other games on Steam - This means that you cannot use your store page description to advertise other products on Steam." - and yet this game (and virtually all other "prologues") does exactly that. Shouldn't be for long, though, as "Starting early September, we'll roll out an update that automatically hides any instances where a URL is included in a game's written description or other text section.". At the same time, Proper demo pages will prominently display infobox linking to the full game, so maybe that will do it.
