Please tell me the left hand image is just lowest settings. Tomb Raider from 2013 looked better than that without any mumbo jumbo.

Quoting: pbMy son is on manjaro and his system breaks on every update. But apparently arch is "too complicated". 😆
You're exaggerating, don't you? ^^
Maybe a bit. 😇 But he's updating 1-2 times a year and there are always some conflicts and I need to help him fix it. ;-) Last time I rebuilt the mirror list so hopefully the next update will go more smoothly.

Lutris now being built with Claude AI, developer decides to hide it after backlash

Quoting: CreepioAnother thing I wanted to quickly say is that, the Lutris dev mentioned he has depression and he's using Claude as a way to stay motivated to continue working on his project (my interpretation of things). He's doing this to try to make more progress on something that otherwise risks becoming abandonware, and right now I feel like he's being bullied for using AI. He felt bullied so he removed the claude attribution, and then he felt bullied again so he put it back. And now after reading a few comments here, I see people are canceling their Patreons over this. Bizarre. I don't know what the end-game is here. If being bullied is going to be the result of using AI, I question if applying any AI attribution in the first place is the right answer. This situation affects how I will choose to go about doing things in the near future if I plan to release any software.
In time you will learn to accept that some decisions lead to situations without a good outcome or recourse. Regardless if you try to go forward, or back, or step aside - the damage has already been done. The attitude is important, too, but not the most important. My only hope is that this situation will serve as a guidance to others, because the others are definitely observing.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPCan we get an "S for Slop" rating? 😂
We definitely need a rating like "not suitable for human consumption" ;-)

I'm well over 18 and I'm still tempted+annoyed by these limited in-game events. They're toxic design patterns no matter the age.

Herein lies the problem with the society. "I'm just one person using the AI, even if I stop, it won't solve the bigger problem". Now substitute "using the AI" with "littering", "eating meat", "speeding", "parking in illegal spots", "not voting", "preordering games", "buying from companies known to exploit their employees" etc. etc. you get the point. We will be our own undoing.

Unity announce expanded support for Steam, Native Linux, Steam Deck and Steam Machine

I think it's great they're adding official Linux/SteamOS/Deck/Machine targets. Maybe sometimes they won't work and then we will resort to Proton, but it's still a huge step benefiting the developers who otherwise might be reluctant to develop for Linux. It's all about the friction.

Valve posted a statement on the New York lootbox lawsuit

Let's strike a compromise and just ban anything where you pay a certain amount of money but don't know what you're getting back: lootboxes, gambling, card packs, kinder surprise, mystery game bundles, lotteries, taxes...
