Quoting: EWGSo wait, I don't get it. Are they just updating the ISO to ship with the latest kernel that's regularly available to update to? So, basically, during install it'll have broader and better support for hardware depending on the kernel? Is that it?Yes and I think that's a good idea. Since people who already have installed it probably don't need newer Kernels. But new users might need it. This makes perfect sense.
Framework tease new hardware and something big for Linux too

I wonder how the System76 sales have been going since Framework is in the market. I have the feeling they are taking away a lot of their sales.

Quoting: NicknameMaybe my memory is wrong, but as far as I remember I got asked on all devices at least the last 3 times. I also didn't install all my devices on the same day. In fact I installed CachyOS some weeks ago and got asked there as well.Quoting: kaktuspalmeI would say its on a per device basis, you probably get asked on all devices the same day by chance.Quoting: WORMI got asked to submit my specs 3 times this last month lmaoWhenever I get asked, I get asked on all the devices I have. To me it looks like they select random users, not random pcs.
All different devices but all Linux
The survey gets automatically triggered if one year has passed, there is a counter in the.steam/steam/config/config.vdffile. (path can vary a bit by distro)

Quoting: whizseI guess it already has changed. I saw so many Youtube Videos popping up on how to run Steam on Android on Ayn Odin and other devices. GameNative and other apps are mentioned.Quoting: ROllerozxaImproving the loading of game mod DLLs sounds interesting but what got my attention was the firstmost line, Wine running on Android? 👀Yep, it was (somewhat) supported starting with the 3.0 release but ending with 7.0. I think the arm build was only able to run WinRT binaries (Windows apps for arm) so usefulness was pretty much limited to Android on x86. That will probably change now with FEX that emulates x86 on arm64.

Quoting: Purple Library Guy11% for English speaking . . . that's insane. But, once again says to me that something needs to be done about China not doing Linux.I still don't understand why asian countries and china especially adopt Linux slower then the rest of the world. One would think they would be happy not relying on US closed source Software.

Quoting: 3zekielThanks for your interesting write up. From what I heard I always thought x86 asm is a mess. Nice to hear other opinions.Quoting: ExplosiveDiarrheaGood, x86 has to go away.I know not many of us have to go that low, but for those who have to, x86 is nice.

Quoting: tuubiFor the ones commenting on the lack of HDMI 2.1, AMD isn't allowed to implement the standard in their open source kernel driver. If you don't use an adapter it's using YUV420. You would especially see this on fonts.
That said, my 7800XT does 4K@120Hz just fine, connected via HDMI to my LG OLED TV. VRR (FreeSync Premium) works as well, and is active according to the TV. Don't know about HDR as this machine is still on X11.
