XWayland 21.1.2 is out now with support for hardware accelerated NVIDIA on the 470 driver

Quoting: BielFPsFinally Very Nice, now we just need the main distros Debian / Ubuntu lts / Fedora / Arch to default to Wayland sessions, and we are good to go :)
Fedora 34 uses Gnome Wayland by default, also what I'm currently using. (They also immediately patched their XWayland package with this patch for Nvidia 470)
Three weeks in, and I have to say it works significantly better than what I was used to on Plasma Wayland (haven't tried Sway, yet).

XWayland windows are not pixelated when using monitor resolution scaling, even when using fractional scaling.
Compare that to Plasma XWayland, where it is obvious if a window uses Wayland or X.

I've ordered mine months ago, unfortunately due to the shipment delay I won't be home when it arrives.

From what I've heard, GPU hot-plugging might work better with Wayland compared to X11.
This is quite what I hope for too. Like Liam said, it would become the laptop killer I've been waiting for.

"Gaming on the go", in the bus/train to the job, with the 8", 720p screen (from what is reported) and comfortable 1080p or 4K gaming on my TV with the optional docking station (Doubtfull they would be able to sell the whole package for 399$).

If that's the deal, it's an instabuy for me. My wallet is ready.
They could very well just sell the dock separately. (Btw, FreeSync please :D )

If they keep the desktop mode and include the ability to connect a mouse and a keyboard, and/or watch videos on YouTube, Netflix, etc. the SteamPal could even turn into a laptop killer for some people.

I really hope the SteamPal gains mainstream attention.
If it does, gaming on Linux would gain a lot more native support in the future.

NVIDIA DLSS coming to Proton, plus GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti announced

Will DLSS work for titles that were written with DirectX and translated via DXVK/VKD3D?
Otherwise the amount of titles that will benefit from this is... limited.

Claimed CoH2 and bought Metro Exodus to see how well the Linux port works, wasn't it using DXVK/VKD3D?

No it's not. To be fair that is on AMD more than System76 in my eyes.
It seems that AMD is already working on Coreboot support for their new chipsets. I'm not sure if it was covered here, but there is a post on Phoronix that linked to AMD hiring engineers for better GPU driver support on Linux, and improve Coreboot support.

Linux Kernel security to be boosted by Google funding developers

Nice to see them contributing to security.

But not exactly surprising, when you consider that they apparently banished Windows from their internal systems.

Wasn't CFI already implemented on Android? I am sure that at the very least GrapheneOS makes use of it.
