Feedback needed for our 'Linux Game Of The Year Award' that will start soon

Quoting: tmtvlExactly my point. Granted, 2016 isn't over yet, but so far it's not really living up to its predecessor.
No that was not exactly what I perceived as your point at all. And even when you have some subjective objections on the listed titles and thus will not rate them "outstanding" in your book, they are all major releases and of high quality and importance. They have all collected rock solid reviews, are widely known with a huge fanbase. Just like some of the titles of 2015. Important to the platform, and obvious in a GOTY context.

And I could keep going, too. The Warhammer titles for example. Or Stellaris. Major releases, high quality productions. When I think about it, 2015 wasn't that much better. So to be unable to list any other titles than Tyranny as candidates for a GOTY this year... Well, yeah. That is kinda odd.

Quoting: tmtvlApart from Tyranny I can't think of a single outstanding Linux game being released in 2016

Deus Ex? X-com 2? Rocket League? Life Is Strange?
Granted 2015 were great, but come on man...!

Steam's Autumn sale to begin soon, date also leaked for the Winter sale

Quoting: GBeeBeamboom - considering you might also have to upgrade your whole machine just to run Deus Ex, I'd not be in any rush to get it.
Nope I'm good :-) I'm above the minimum specs.

I'm ashamed to admit that I've not purchased Deus Ex yet - I simply can't afford it at the moment, things have been very tight now for a few months.
But if it is on sale, then yeah... Either way I'll get it before xmas for sure.

Slime Rancher is also one I'll grab if it's on sale, as well as Warhammer 4k.

Slime Rancher has a massive update named 'Slime Science'

Added to my wishlist but I'll wait until EA period is over before considering, out of sheer principle.

User Editorial: Steam Machines & SteamOS after a year in the wild

Quoting: ElectricPrismHow did this article get a pass to be featured on GamingOnLinux.com
Because this is a blog, not a professional, editorial product. You just did the work of an editor there. And I agree, it would be real great if this site had one.

But view the site as a blog, with the pros and cons that comes with that.

Why are we writing off SteamOS already? We know Valve? We know Valve-time?
There's no announcement that they have ended the SteamOS project. This will take time. Valve time.

SteamOS haven't even gotten out of beta yet - that's why there's no SteamMachines (with a very few experimental exceptions). It's not officially available yet - you can participate as a beta tester if you like, but it's not meant for public consumption.

One can discuss the period behind us, and by God that's been discussed a lot now, but it's not gone. It's not over. Not yet.

Unity 5.6 will be the first version of Unity to have SDL for Linux

Quoting: liamdawe@Beamboom the correct way is "should have", but let's not have article comments descend into grammar hell?
No no by all means - I just have always wondered about this particular "odd" way of writing, since I've seen it "everywhere" and it's so explicitly wrong (in my eyes).
But I understand now (also thanks to those who sent me a PM on the subject!) that it's a way of mistyping "should've" since it sounds a bit like "of" at the end. I still think it's odd, but at least I now know that it's not me whom vocabulary is just a bit outdated. :)

I'm sorry about this digression into a discussion of grammar, however there's been a burning question for me a long time and I want to use this opportunity now that I saw this usage of the word "of" again:

About time. Should of been using it from the start. Would of eliminated tons of problems they had with the engine on linux.
I see this *all* the time: This usage of "of" instead of "have"!
This is not meant as an insult or anything towards this particular poster cause like I say, I see this absolutely everywhere and it puzzles me every time.
My question is: Is it legit English? Or an American variant? Or is it a kind of slang?

Quoting: Crystal DaggerI wonder why this one has "mixed" reviews on Steam.
Ignore user "reviews". It's too random and irrational to be trusted. Trust the professional sources. Trust the meta scores. Ignore the random strangers.
