I got one - ONE - complaint about SoM, and that's about the game and not Ferals porting. It's in regards to the skins. In every cut-scene or even some special effects ingame the default skin is used.

This looks particularly idiotic when you use the female skin. She fades over to being a male now and then, and gawd how that spoils the immersion.
But even while using the male protagonist it is quite annoying to not have the outfit consistent throughout the experience.

Quoting: vulturewhen you hit with wraith stun you SHOULD NOT wild tap X. press only once per hit (it is just as fast or a little slower) and you have execution available in 2 hits from tier 2 on, since you do critical hits with multipliers. correct flurry almost like having ultimate sword skill full time. if you combine that with runes that give 2 elf-arrows+hp on execution and hp on critical hits... at tier 5 with double execution...
You know, articles with gameplay tips like these - without spoilers - would be a great addition to this site. Just general gameplay tips and suggestions for a title, what a noob should be aware of.

Quoting: melkemindAsk and ye shall receive. Valve's Linux port of Left 4 Dead 2 significantly outperformed [External Link] the Windows version.
That's the one, single isolated example we got, and it's a question of a mere few percentages difference on a game with a very high framerate.
I mean, sure, we got that one example early on and it is of course a nice glimpse of what might be to come, but at this point in time it's an exception and not one I feel is fair to compare everything else against.

Quoting: GuestAs for the Windows comparisons some people are asking for, not sure if that’s a good idea… I don’t care how games run on an operating system I will never use. The information is only useful for developers to see if they could optimize better.
I disagree. It is interesting to see how development goes, and again to get some facts on the matter instead of a bunch of undocumented claims, cause the discussions sure isn't going anywhere any time soon.

We all know the performance is not equal today. It should not surprise anyone. But as times goes it will be real interesting to see if there's relative progress, also it will show us with clarity what games are the best ports.

Quoting: liamdaweThere may be news on the Windows front in future, as I have a HDD ready for it now, I just need to see if Samsai's Win7 key works for it.
Awesome!

Please tell if it didn't work (on IRC or wherever) and maybe I can sort out something. Not making any promises, but I do have an idea.

A Review Of Exploration Adventure Game 'Beyond Eyes' On Linux

Wow, this looked like a fantastic piece of work. I want to play this along with my little daughter (3.5 yrs old) and just explore and enjoy the fragile atmosphere.
Thanks for this tip, Flesk. It'll be purchased.

EDIT: A rather peculiar note on the system requirements on Steam: "Compatible controllers for Linux / Steam OS are the Sony Dualshock 4 controller. Other controllers may well work but have not been thoroughly tested."

They've not even tested a single "native" PC-controller (like the Logitech etc) or Xbox controller (whose API has practically become the standard on PC)? I find it quite peculiar.

I also wanted to make a joke about Liam's 3.5GB of VRAM.
Oh man that quote alone was worth reading it. :) I love the way you write, Sammy. It's direct, to the point, well balanced and detailed without going into too much detail or digressions.

Also, these kind of tests are very valuable at this infant stage of Linux gaming, where a lot of uncertainty and myths are dangling around.

The only thing missing now is a Windows partition on the test machines, for comparisons of game performance.

The Ubuntu Guys Have Already Worked Out A More Official PPA For Nvidia Driver Updates

Edgers packages did screw up things for me quite often years ago, but over the last couple of years it's been smooth sailing. I'll stick to Edgers ppa unless things change or Ubuntu starts releasing latest drivers faster.
