Quoting: EikeI really wasn't sure about that for anti-cheat. I wonder how that could work, really work, on a fully open-source system without some TPM "you cannot change anything here" mechanism. It didn't have to be open-source, though?

For a most of those questions there were really quite obvious answers though - after all this is just a PC w/Steam client in a small casing, with all that implies. Of course they'll run the standard Proton etc.

Quoting: wintermuteAh, indeeed!Quoting: BeamboomHow weird, my purchase history doesn't go further back than 2011, even though I have the 16 year badge so I've had this account since 2005A lot of the early stuff was available as physical releases and only activated on Steam, you can see it under "View licenses and product key activations" on your account page rather than the purchases section.

I am pretty sure my fist game on Steam was Half-Life 2.

I actually believe that they will get Proton working with BattlEye and EAC ahead of the launch. Or at the very least they thoroughly believe so themselves, based on what they know and their best estimates.
I think this is one of the key priorities now, it makes every sense for it to be so.

Oh yay - this might mean both better performance and visuals for Cyberpunk 2077, doesn't it?
Man that game is awesome. I am 100% addicted.

This had a significant performance improvement in Cyberpunk 2077 too! I had some stuttering at times earlier, they seem to be gone now, thus far. At least much much less frequent.
Didn't last long: Back 4 Blood no longer working on Linux with Proton

Not to beat a dead horse here in regards to Proton gaming, but another thing to factor here is of course Virtual Reality. On Linux it would have been *nothing* without Proton. We got the worlds best VR game running on Linux (Half-Life Alyx), but that's about it.
However most VR games runs great on Proton. Like, really good. That alone saves VR gaming on Linux from being a complete flop.

Proton GE sees another new release pulling in lots of fixes

There was a time when a couple of games I wanted to play only seemed to work properly under GE, but since then Steam's Proton has come a very long way. As of today there's not really any games I can't play via the official Proton.
There's of course always the curious side of me wondering if GE would improve performance in a given game, but thus far it's been good enough for me to not bother checking.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPTo be fair, I never had to do anything like that. Even when GE doesn't work, you just switch to a different one in the Steam settings for the game and that's it.Ok, thanks TheSHEEP, that's good to know!
