more vibrant colouring for accentsHell yes. My dark pastel red theme suddenly looked like a fire engine after the upgrade ! Switched to aqua (light blue) theme and it looks good, though. I see some influence from Pop OS, which I like.

If anything, it was a satanic cult.
Back on topic : although the news seem promising, I don't think stopping Microsoft from buying Blizzard now will prevent someone else to buy it later, and the concentration of power in general. I hope I'm wrong and it's a first step in the right direction.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI must have missed the existence of Sony churches. Really, I've never heard anyone say much good about Sony . . . does that actually happen?I used to play two MMORPGs owned by Sony. The closest thing I've seen to a church back then was a forum created by people banned from the official Sony forum, either because they said how much they loved Sony a little too loud or because they were aggressive jerks who couldn't follow the forum's code of conduct.

I guess marketing is to blame : every game must have more features and fancier graphics than the previous one so they have something to show in trailers, even if these things don't actually make the game any better... At least, with the rise of indie games, we can now have games like The Battle for Polytopia, who do exactly the opposite and go for extreme minimalism. :)

Quoting: FurysparkI'm surprised I have not heard of this until just now. You're not alone, and I think we might actually not be so few. Back in the days of Civ 1/2 or Master of Orion, game designers had to focus on the really important stuff, not only about graphics, but features as well, because computers at the time couldn't handle more. But taking away unnecessary things is very important for the quality of a game, even if nothing forces you to do it anymore. “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” This quote was used in Civilization IV (and maybe other games of the series too). Too bad they pretty much forgot about it.
I might be in the minority, but I actually prefer these simple graphics in strategy games. When I played Civ 5 years ago, I remember I was often using the tactical map for that exact purpose. The only reason I sometimes went back to the fully graphical view, was because it gave me a gameplay advantage when scouting: you could see what kind of tile was just outside the fog (grass, sea, etc.).

Quoting: scaineAnd for anyone wondering what HROT stands for... it doesn't. Literally the name of the game [External Link]! Mystery solved. And although it's styled uppercase, it's apparently a Czech word : https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/hrot [External Link]

Build your ultimate collection of the Civilization series in this new bundle

I guess the audience for such a bundle are young people (since they tend to have more free time than older people with a job, a husband/wife, kids, pets, whatever...) who got into the Civilization boat recently with V or VI.

Quoting: GuestCivilizations games are time sucker and you have to play a lot to master them, so honestly, I can't imagine someone buying those bundles and then *really play* all the titles inside them.Civilization games share a large number of core concepts, so once you know one, it's much easier to learn another. This is even more true if the game you know is one of the recent ones, since the games tend to grow in complexity over time (which is not a good thing in my opinon, but I guess they must always add new things for marketing reasons).
