Valve is doing since last year a poor job on Linux and virtual reality. There is an unofficial fix for HL: Alyx subtitles for example. They haven't even fixed that.

Quoting: legluondunetWell said.Quoting: WorMzyI'll wait for a native port. If the devs don't support Linux, then I don't support the devs.Buying it on Steam is different, Valve invested a lot of dev time and money into gaming on Linux.
SO buying this game on Steam you support Proton and Valve Linux devs.
And in one/two years make Proton the standard what linux deserves.

We must support Proton and the native versions (Alien isolation for example).

Quoting: CatKillerWhat is your problem with CP2077? if i may ask...Quoting: PalancaHave CP2077 in Linux on the same release day with the new version of Proton. It would be incredible.Nobody buying it, on any platform, so that it's a complete flop, would be a better outcome.

I think Valve want to launch with Microsoft and Sony their own console.
Hardware + SteamOS + new version of SteamController + HL:Alyx free.
It would be great. Valve has the big enough resources to Steam to be able to do this. And now, with Proton would be a dream for us see that.
Who knows.

Some time ago I tried version 20.04 + gnome-session-flashback and horrible. You can not move the icons and zero configuration on the desktop.
Any idea?
