There is now an open source driver and GTK3 based UI for interacting with the Steam Controller

Quoting: tuubiQt is what I'd pick for commercial projects (for several practical reasons), but GTK is what I actually like using for some reason I can't quite put my finger on.

I like the layout model of GTK better. Works very well for scalable layouts that work on multiple window sizes, and different font sizes. In Qt it felt more like you need to be aware of this stuff to do it properly. Just my personal (and quite a bit dated) experience.

Quoting: WorMzyBecause gtk3 is a broken pile of crap, and I refuse to have it on my system. ;)

That is not exactly an argument. But anyway... GTK3 has a better drawing model, multiple backends (like Wayland), touch events, CSS-based theme engine.

In a simple analogy, GTK2 is like HTML4 and GTK3 is like HTML5.

Man, there's some weird stuff out there. If it weren't for Linux, I'd still think that FPS, RTS, and racing were all there is for game genres.

Quoting: TemplateRWhat is the difference between SDL and X11?
SDL in an abstraction layer with multiple backends. It provides access to audio, keyboard, mouse, joystick, and graphics hardware. X11 is a windowing system that functions as a backend for SDL, but also can be used directly. They are moving away from using X11 directly to SDL abstraction, which allows it to work on other backends such as Wayland.
