Heroic Games Launcher 2.6.0 out now adding auto updates, new theme

But the problem with the HLTB on the game page was also that it was too much information there. That page is already too much cluttered on installed games. So adding more was complicated.
But we are designing a new game page for the future, probably heroic 3.0, that will make those informations easier to find and without cluttering the page.
And about performance, yes, I think we have improved a lot from 2.3 to 2.6 but there is still work to do and we have some refactoring going on to improve that.

Quoting: SchattenspiegelLove the Launcher, but why did they hide the HLTB info behind two additional clicks and put it into a dialog window?! - having that info directly available was one of the cool features of the previous versions and could only have been improved by displaying it for imported games as well. :sad:Yeah, it is complicated to make everyone happy. Hahaha
Otherwise all it's missing is maybe a little bit performance improvements, the option to only display installed titles and given the size of the libraries these days: 'auto-scroll'.

Quoting: mr-victoryTrue, but at the same time itch.io has an open api I believe so would easier to do in comparison with the others. But I'm not sure we have started investigating that yet. Amazon will come first for sure.Quoting: WMan22I really hope they follow through on that itch.io support.Apart from Steam, itch is the only store with Linux support, focusing on stores without Linux support would be better IMO.

I used Slackware and gentoo when I had no kids or heroic and a lot of free time. Today that would be almost impossible. I remember that took me 3 days to fully install gentoo at the time, from stage 3. And Slackware I needed to write a lot of bash scripts for it to be functional and compile all softwares I needed. Crazy times 😅

The thing is that I don’t really have time to setup things from scratch so I like to use distros that does most of the work for me and I just need to configure basic things for my workflow. Also Flávio:
The ones I used the most were . . . Slackware and Gentoo:grin:

On mobile I don't recommend using the latest amd CPU at all if you use Linux. Had this terrible experience with a tuxedo laptop with ryzen 6900HX where the keyboard did not work when using kernel newer than 5.19. So using distros like Garuda or pop_os was impossible.
I think same thing is happening with the GPUs now, we are always beta testers. Maybe after one year of launch it is time to buy.

Thanks for sharing this, Liam. A lot of people were confused since this change happened just after a new Heroic version was released and our Discord was full of people with issues and saying something like: After the new update, everything broke, I cannot install anything, etc.
And we were like: What!? checking code, testing stuff just to realize was on Epic's end. ahahahah

Heroic Games Launcher v2.5.0 is out with Downloads Manager, App Sideloading

This is useful if you want to, for instance, add not supported launcher to Heroic, native or not. Some examples could be the Ubisoft and EA apps, itch IO, some games that you have downloaded on your machine, etc.
It won't find anything automatically on your machine, if that is what you mean, you will need to add it from there.
Another example is to use a CLI tool like Nile to download your Amazon games and add it to Heroic.
Might be a useful feature to some people and others might never use it as well. but it is good to have this possibility.

Quoting: slaapliedjeWtf is app sideloading on Linux? All it really means on Android/iOS is to install something outside of the Google/Apple store. It isn't like this hasn't always been a thing in computer land. This means that Heroic stops being only an Epic and GOG games launcher to a more general games/app launcher.
Does this feature just add shortcuts for stuff installed via apt/dnf (for example)?
