The Witcher 3 a few years ago and Cyberpunk I finished two months ago using Lutris.
Great games besides the bugs, hehehe.

Quoting: CatKillerYou could add them to Steam as non-Steam games. Which also gets you controller support for games that don't natively support controllers.
Quoting: BeamboomFor sure, I finished both already tbh.Quoting: fearnflavioI think the only games I have there are The Witcher 3 and CyberbugBuy them on Steam too ! They are both really good, worth it imo. Should definitely be played. And there's no denying the comfort of Steam Play.

I never buy from GOG. Even if they provide the Linux installer, for everyday use the experience is not good. No official client or whatsoever. Completely different from what we have on windows like was said above.
I think the only games I have there are The Witcher 3 and Cyberbug which I regret it because I simply forget I have those games. Since I use only Steam and Heroic most of the time.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance gets shown off on the Steam Deck

Still, even though is an unpopular opinion, let's also do not forget that Steam deck is a product that Valve is selling to get profit. Also, they get 30% for every game sold under Steam from any dev. So it's just business, not because they 'love' Linux. They need profit and Linux is the way to go.
Same with Android. Google 'loves' Linux, uses it everywhere, but because they can have their own platform based on it. Every company in the world wants the same.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleAgain, sorry for being a broken record, but devs just do not realize the amount of heavy lifting done for them by Valve/partners/community and probably don't appreciate it nearly enough.Yes, totally true.

Well, if it wasn't for KDE I wouldn't be a Linux user myself since my first experience with Linux, back in 2007 with Fedora 6 and Gnome 2 was terrible. After trying a local distro that used KDE 3 at the time I fell in love with Linux and how amazing it was to personalize.
Also, I miss Amarok a lot.

Forza Horizon 5 on Linux? Yeah okay fine, Proton Experimental was updated

Not linux libraries, windows packages like vcrun, dotnet, etc.

Quoting: GuestI personally don't like the idea of Steam attempting to install additional software. That's what a package manager is for - and if Steam ever attempts to override it, I'll burn it out of my system if I have to. Or am I missing something outside of that? I don't use Lutris, and I'm assuming the dependencies are installable packages rather than grab-another-flatpak type setup.I think he is talking about windows dependencies that the game has. Using protontricks in case. Lutris use their own scripts.

Proton Experimental gets Age of Empires 4 working out of the box on Linux
10 Nov 2021 at 1:55 pm UTC
Thanks for clarifying.

Quoting: LeopardForza Horizon 5 videos/tests that shows it working on Proton were made with non-legit version.Ah, didn't know this detail.
Currently a Steam copy of Forza Horizon 5 doesn't work without that non-legit executable.
So OOB it is borked.
Thanks for clarifying.

Do you know if it is working on Nvidia?
10 Nov 2021 at 1:15 pm UTC
Quoting: Liam DaweAll ProtonDB reports are from before this Proton Experimental update. As the article states, it worked fine on NVIDIA here.Yes, sorry I wasn't clear. I was meaning Forza Horizon 5.

I really want to play this one and Forza Horizon 5 but could not find anyone showing it running fine on Nvidia and the game is quite expensive.
Saw a video of a guy running it on a Radeon Rx but on ProtonDB it still borked.

Quoting: nepoGreat news, thanks alot!Yes, same.
Edit: Uhm... quite expensive  ... too much for me for Proton Experimental. Proton DB shows mixed reviews, but "gold" status. Some problems with stability... mhmmm... I think I'll wait a little bit longer.

Then 1.10 started on 1.10.1 and then I released a fix for it already.

Quoting: PhlebiacNot sure why 1.10.0 was skipped, but 1.10.2 is already out.Was my mistake when setting up the Release candidate. I used 1.10.0 for it instead of using an RC on the version name.

NVIDIA Vulkan Beta Driver 470.62.05 rolls out for Linux
8 Oct 2021 at 9:52 am UTC
The issue was with the stable driver, which fixed the memory leak when using vkd3d. But for me, the freensync was more important. So I reverted back to the old Vulkan Driver. And for all vkd3d games I have, only on Assassins creed Valhalla I noticed the memory leak, on Cyberpunk, Death Stranding, Mortal Shell, Control, I do not have it.
But still, using nvidia-tkg I cannot find this new version to download. The latest is 470.62.02.
Edit: Just saw this on the Stable release post on their forums: The new 470.62.05 vulkan dev drivers released yesterday are also impacted by this.
So... no, it's not fixed.

Quoting: EhvisYes, I have a Freesync compatible monitor.Quoting: fearnflavioHave someone tested it to check if it fixes the Gsync/Freesync issue that the stable driver has?Did the Vulkan beta have this issue to begin with?
On the nvidia forums it was mentioned that the fix will be in the next release, but it may just be the stable driver.
I'm still not sure if gsync is actually affected since all reports seem to have come from freesync (gsync compatible) users.
