The future has arrived - KDE Plasma 6 desktop released

Well, if they break too many settings I'm gonna switch back to Awesome. I don't need double click RSI, and I definitely don't need the 'log out' keyboard shortcut to default to 'shut down'.

AYANEO NEXT LITE no longer ships with SteamOS-like HoloISO Linux - Windows 11 instead

Quoting: rustybroomhandleStories like this happen every few years. In the early 2010s, a local government in some European city (I forget which) announced they were entirely switching to Linux in all their public service departments. 2 weeks go by, "no, sorry we're sticking with Windows". Turns out they had a visit from a Microsoft sales rep.
The Munich affair? Yeah, that was something. It's FOSS has a piece on it: https://itsfoss.com/munich-linux-failure/ [External Link]

What's your issue with the audio jack? Seems to work just fine for me.

Neverwinter Nights 2, downloaded from GOG, installed using Q4Wine. Works very well on the deck. Only needed to install protontricks to install d3dx9.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyGreat!!!

. . . What's HDR?
The random graphical gimmick du jour. I believe it's meant to make things contrastier, which admittedly is a nice change from the brown-and-grey palette of yesteryear.

KDE Plasma 6 gets double-click to open by default and other improvements

For people who are interested in single vs double click, Nate left a comment [External Link] about how they reached their decision.

It boils down to our market position. People who use KDE Plasma are vastly more likely to be switching from another desktop OS than they are to be using Plasma as their very first desktop OS experience. And switchers know double-click

Baldur's Gate 3 on Steam Deck is 'absolutely wild' and aims for 30FPS on Medium
1 Aug 2023 at 12:01 pm UTC

Quoting: WoodlandorI have fond memories of playing Baldur's Gate when it first came out.
When I got it home and opened the box and saw it was 5 CDs
That was complete craziness at the time lol
Yeah, Baldur's Gate is a great series of games, I'm actually surprised they made a BG3, I thought that ToB ended things pretty conclusively. It's gonna be interesting seeing a really high level campaign now that CHARNAME is a deity (or at least at the power level of one).

Valve appear to be banning games with AI art on Steam (updated)
30 Jun 2023 at 1:17 pm UTC Likes: 4

So if the developers had an AI model trained on Creative Commons and/or on material they had specifically commissioned for that purpose Valve wouldn't have a problem with it? Seems a reasonable compromise considering AI can't sign a copyright waiver.

Kinda poor timing with the Fractureiser virus still under investigation, best to stay away from MC until the dust settles.

Stadia to see more than 100 games through 2021
13 Feb 2021 at 6:46 pm UTC

Quoting: GuestThey are little more than hate for clicks peddlers
Well, if anyone deserves hate it's Facebook... but Google's a pretty good runner up for "disgustingly evil megacorp."

And hey, they may announce a whole 100 games, but whether or not those will actually land... we'll see when we get there.

And even if they land, until they support other browsers and running games offline I still hope Stadia dies horribly and makes Google's stock drop by 0.3%.
