Lutris v0.5.12 out now fixing Origin, Epic Store, Ubisoft Connect, GOG

While I still like Lutris for managing emulator games, I gotta say, this latest update feels underwhelming with regard to Lutris for managing Wine games, compared to Heroic, Bottles, or even Steam (esp. with option to use sgd-boop and steamtinkerlaunch).

Even for certain online games, people has opted to make its own launcher (Minecraft, FFXIV, GI) or there are scripts that works independently of Lutris, so even as a community repository for game installation it's starting to lag behind.

Lutris is great for its time but I think the design decisions made back then has started to take its toll. It's still a nice tool but I can't say that I want to use it these days unless I need to. I'd rather just use Heroic or Steam with Steam ROM Manager.

Steam, am I a joke to you?
Me, an Indonesian: Hey, buddy, could be worse.

I do root for Australia though -- who knows, maybe in the process Indonesia gets a release as well.

Heroic Games Launcher v2.5.0 is out with Downloads Manager, App Sideloading

Holy shit, I just tested it, it's so much simpler and quicker adding games via Heroic than through Lutris or Bottles. Has a Total Play Time tracker too so that's the usecase that long kept me to Lutris covered. The UX overall is really nice for games, especially with how simple it is to Add Game (plus how they automatically pulling the cover -- even found the one that's not on Steam).

This is really cool.

Quoting: CorbenNo we dislike them for coming back and bringing their launcher with it... causing launcher-ception!
You usually can skip them though. It can be annoying, but it's not as annoying as buying a game on their launcher.

Thousands of years later, The Bible has arrived on Steam

Nice! I would be glad if we could also have the Qur'an on Steam, as well as other religious texts. Heck, that might be the cleanest and nicest way to get some religious texts, especially as their mobile version tended to be rather ads-ridden.

Godot Engine 4.0 gets a Movie Maker

Quoting: GuestThe github page shows over 5k open issues.
Is that really THAT bad? Proton has around ~3.5k open issues. Godot, which I'd imagine is more complicated and has to deal with multiple platform, has ~5k, which isn't even broken down between feature request, small issues, critical issues, duplicate issues, and a few people just asking support.

I don't think Github issues tells a story about a project's bugginess, other than that a project has enough eyes and contributors to have ~5k issue. In which case, yeah, Godot is a big project now, it has a lot of eyes, and a lot of people participating in the project's development.

Microsoft upgraded Xbox Cloud Gaming for Linux and ChromeOS (so Steam Deck too!)

What about Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, and Chromium as well as Ungoogled-Chromium? Everyone has their own preferences, and while I think it should work correctly on all of them, a few like Brave might have problems with its default or Ungoogled-Chromium might be missing some component to make it works.

Can't test it myself because I don't have a subscription, but it'd be interesting to know if there's any variation in these other browsers.

Heroic Games Launcher 2.5 Beta adds Download Manager, external game / launcher installs

Every game client on Linux is Lutris now.

Which is fine I guess. Besides, you can always just use BoilR to centralize everything on Steam anyways.

Valve finally clears up Steam game release dates, also adjusts pricing

The price suggestion increase is going to be painful, but IF publisher comes to trust it, then it can be a net positive for my region where some publishers just really fucks me with their pricing.

And the release date system change is good -- I love month represented as letters, so much clearer than "01/02/2022" which could be Jan 02 or 01 Feb. I don't particularly care for the humorous dates either -- just give me clear information and leave your jokes in the game.

Persona 5 Royal is a great Steam Deck experience

Huh. No video playback issues? That was the main problem with Persona 4 Golden I hear.
