Mu humble opinion about the delay of the Steam Machines :P
You cant ship the Steam Machines without a football game!!!
So they need Fifa or PRO Evolution to be on SteamOS otherwise forget it.
You can't imagine how many people buy Fifa or Pro every year for consoles , I mean they may never buy any other single game but FIFA or PRO is a must for every console.

Steam Hardware Survey For May 2014, Linux Falls Short Of Last Month

Judging from my experience as an everyday IT , Is very hard for a Windows,Mac User to migrate to any Linux OS.
And next month I believe the Linux statistics will be less on Steam...
For Gamers
-------------
Watch Dogs, Stomping Land and The Forest - three of the most anticipated games released for Windows.
So any new user on Linux or dual boot or whatever they would just say fuck it.
I am switching to windows just to be able to play these games.
For Casual Mac/Windows Business/Users
----------------------------------------
There are some applications that are especially deigned for Mac and you cannot find them in a windows version or Linux and some people cant live without these applications. So a switch for them is impossible. Same goes with Windows especially for the Business.
Some people are stuck with Office/outlook and business applications like Caseware etc any alternative is out of question.
Before I switch my personal desktop to Only Linux OS I had to try out a lot of Distros and struggle a lot to learn Linux.
Imagine I am a computer geek, I know how things are working etc. But how about the casual dumb user? Is impossible for them to try new things.
I have one folder with over 100 modifications/optimizations for Manjaro just to be able to use it as I want. After a year now using Linux , I cant go back to windows even for a Game....

I havent played any XCOM game so far , maybe I have played some old DOS XCOM games.
This looks a bit different though....I dont like strategy games..... :o
Just hopping for a big discount when it comes out on steamOS like the Witcher 2.
Is a 2012 Game so a discount is a must :P

Why We Shouldn't Accept Bad Linux Ports

For me is the same like accepting a newly created horrible bad game because it supports Linux/SteamOS.
I see many people vote "yes" many greenlight games because they support Linux/SteamOS no matter what game it is.
Many indie developers take advantage of the Linux Gaming Community , they know how bad we want games for Linux , so they just throw a game no matter how good it is.
The same goes with old games that are not selling any more , lets throw a bad Linux port to get some money.
I know everyone is excited when a new game is released, including me but actually the BEST Games for 2014 havent released yet for Linux and I dont thing will be released soon.
- Watch Dogs
- Dark Souls 2
- Wolfenstein the New Order
- The Forest - No Linux Support
- Stomping Land - No Linux Support
- Battlefield 4
I can keep going on....
We just need one Good Game Title to be released on Linux to show the difference between Windows and Linux.
For example if you have Left For Dead 3 on Linux and Windows and the performance on Linux is like 2x Times better , no crashes etc then you would see many people switching OS.
Lets hope in 2015 with the release of SteamOS Machines we will have better games on Linux.
