I played it now as well, and it is very dark and very good.

The developers plan to bring it to Steam [External Link]. It's not yet decided if they can do it for Linux as well. And they'll bring some possibility to support them (to itch and Steam) - which I will use, as the game is worth my money for sure.

I looked that up in German, and... yes. I didn't see anything mention a free version. There's even an FAQ on the front page (retranslated):

How much does Stadia cost?

You can test Stadia Pro for one month for free and are getting immediate access to an ever growing amount of Stadia Pro Games (automatically 9,99 €/month (incl. VAT) after testing period. Cancellable any time. Bid terms apply.)

You can also buy single games in the Stadia store - even if you don't have an active Stadia Pro subscription anymore.

So, aside from them not mentioning Stadia Free a single time, taken literally that would mean you could only buy games after a Stadia Pro subscription. Ok, that might be the free month. But, it's very clear what they want the customer to know and what they don't want to push...

You don't need one! Play where you want, what you want! I didn't calculate it through, but I guess playing only Stadia would be cheaper over time when you don't need a gaming capable PC. Or it gives you the chance to play games you cannot play on your PC (e.g. due to using Linux). It's not me to judge. (And when I look at the posts at this article, I don't saw the other ones judging Stadia users either. You may find exceptions, but in general not.)

I believe you it's an major thing for many Stadia users, but seen from the outside, it's not the incentive Stadia needs to attract many players.

Well, I don't know if Stadia will succeed, I do think it might need exclusives to do so, but what I'm sure about...
Two games five to six years old will not bring huge excitement to anyone using Windows or an at least semi-current console.
