A new and quite interesting Steam Client Beta is out, nice Linux fixes and Vulkan shader downloading

Quoting: HoriHopefully they will fix the audio bug when streaming. I can hear the audio on both the server and the client - which sucks. I have to close the door each time I want to use it, so I can't hear the sound from the PC. I use monitor built-in-speakers so unless I destroy my finger pressing the volume down button 100 times to turn mute the audio, and then 100 times again to turn it back to max, which I never expected to have to do, I can't do anything about it. Turning the volume down normally through GNOME will turn the volume on the receiver also.
No mute function at the monitor?

After their last announcement, in fall if I remember correctly, they went so silent I thought it would be dead.

id Software going all-in with Vulkan, some interesting details about that and Linux for Stadia
14 May 2019 at 7:54 am UTC

The thing is, id Software actually talked about having a Linux version of DOOM back at GDC last year that was never released, at least now we know why.
Erm, and... why?
(I'm probably missing something basic here?)

Quoting: devlandThe first game was also great but I always felt like the combat was heavily randomized by how the AI reacted and you had little control over it besides pausing the game every so often. :D
Didn't it have many auto pause options? If I remember corretly, I enabled lots of them and it didn't feel much different from turn based. Wonder how I'll play PoE II (when I find time)...

Six years later, the horror adventure ASYLUM should hopefully release this year with Linux support

Well, that was way before my time here...

"Intended release [...] this year". :)

After suggesting a developer drop Linux support, Vivox have released a statement
3 May 2019 at 6:42 pm UTC

I might be understanding this all wrong, but... They're making middleware, right? Which doesn't support Linux. So if people want to support Linux, they probably will kot be using their product. (You don't want to use two middleware libs for the same stuff.) So isn't proposing to potential users of their product not to support Linux, so these can actually make real use of their product about the only reasonable thing they can say?

The absolute classic physics-based puzzle game 'World of Goo' is getting a little revamp soon

Quoting: Avehicle7887I learned about this game back in the first Hunmble Indie Bundle, I never played but this might make me finally try it. I admit I'm not a very big fan of puzzle games.
Give it a try, additionally to the very special Tomorrow Corporation charme, it's also a dexterity challenge.

Quoting: cprnWell, I already throttle the clocks to about 10% when I don't run anything GPU intensive to slow down the fans, etc. I don't think AGPU can beat it wattage-wise when it's downclocked like that. Might be wrong. Am I wrong? I just feel like that AGPU lies there to waste.
That's an interesting question and I'd be interested to know if you happen to check. I'd think AGPU would win due to better efficiency, but that's just a wild guess.

I know the feeling of wasted... transistors, if you will. I'd prefer the CPU without graphics circuits if it's economically reasonable.

Great game!

Has it really been released with Linux support in 2009?

Quoting: dpanter100% my personal opinion.
After 35 years of playing with keyboards, I doubt I'd benefit.

PS: I do use a gamepad for "analogue" stuff like Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, though.
