Saturday Mag: Linux gaming news odds and ends plus a look at a few things on sale
13 Oct 2018 at 2:07 pm UTC

Finally, a question! What have you been playing this week and what do you think about it? I'm still completely hooked on Rocket League. If you fancy playing with me, do add me on Steam.
I need to give up on the last two instruction count optimizations in 7 Billion Humans (one in the highest, one in the lowest tier) to keep my good mood, I fear.

Playing Rumu today instead.

If you enjoy these weekly posts to roundup a few loose ends, do let me know so I will continue them.
I think it's a good format for the things missed over the week!

Quoting: baccilusIs there a steamplay curator on steam itself? I know about SPCR.

But AFAIR they found that a curator cannot recommend more than one thousand games.

Quoting: fleskIf anyone's interested on some more data, here's a list of my backed projects:

The current "success rate" for me is 84%.

I'll try to get the games added to the wiki page.
When looking at the empty spaces at Linux ports, I'm thinking we need some "expiry" of the promise. Like if it's not delivered 6 months after the Windows release (and, maybe, there's no sign of very active working on it), it's considered not released for Linux.

The recent Steam Play beta is now out for everyone, plus a minor beta update

Quoting: cprnOne of the companies providing software for my former employer had a minor glitch in their application's update system about 3 years ago that resulted in patches not being properly advertised to Linux clients. Obviously they fixed it right away and promised it'll auto update for each instance next time it bootstraps itself during restart. I don't work there for over 2 years but last month when I talked to my former colleagues they didn't hide their jolly grins announcing none of the machines we used to support had a chance to download that update yet. Linux stability is a bitch when it comes to updates on restart. :D
*lol *

Quoting: liamdaweEven with the limited amount I've got on there right now, the failure rate is pretty low.
I couldn't believe 1%, but I'm happy to see it lower than I expected.

Quoting: liamdaweIf you gather statistics for all kickstarters that promised Linux support, that would give the actual accurate representation. I wasn't talking about personal samples in my original comment, which I what I am trying to explain.
Well, I guess you didn't do these statistics either...?

The Linux improvements sound minor, but hey, the crash reporter might help to do major improvements later on...
