Linux is holding exactly where we thought it would in the Steam Hardware Survey

Quoting: tastyjerkI wonder if we'll actually see a big push at some point in time by Valve for the Steam Machines. Needless to say the launch of the Machines was more of a whimper than a bang, but I think it's pretty common knowledge that SteamOS itself needs some more polish and support from developers. Will there be a point where Valve is satisfied with the state of SteamOS and Steam Machines that we'll actually see them push into the mainstream eye to try and get more consumers? I'd love to see it happen.
I don't think so. It either grows solwly on people or it doesn't. No push, no bang.

New Linux Gamer Survey For December

Quoting: MohandevirHey! What a surprise! It's kind of off-topic but I just logged into Steam and I got the Steam Survey for the first time in nearly a year. I might just be "lucky", but since it's the first survey after the official release of the Steam Machines, anyone else is in the same situation?
I had this some months ago, also at the first of the month AFAIR, but nothing special this time here.
New Steam number 0.98% (+0.03%). We're a very slightly increasing percentage of a probably very fast growing group. Not too bad.

Quoting: fleskI don't mind that the games I like to write about usually don't make it to the top 20. I would love to see more interest in the crowdfunding articles though, since crowdfunding has given us many great Linux games.
If you look at the top article, many of the views don't come by overly interesting articles, but by revisits due to many user posting.

Quoting: IlyaI bought 2 Steam Controllers (one that I've been enjoying a lot and a second one that I'll be putting under the Christmas tree together with some Local co-op games)
If you didn't yet buy Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime - do it! Have fun! :)

Quoting: TheBossI appreciate everyone wants to see their particular distro listed everywhere, but we want to keep the bracket lists short enough so people get which one to tick and nothing more :)
I guess most users of Arch-based distros know that they are. More so perhaps than some users of Debian-based stuff. ;)

It's okay, Divinity might be out before it.
I wonder if there ever will be a Linux port of Duke Nukem Forever! :D

Quoting: BonsWhat to you guys think?,If you see this from a average consumer perspective for once, and don´t look with you Linux glasses on.
From the average game consumer perspective, I'd hardly have realized there was any release. It was mentioned in the (paper) PC games magazine I'm reading (Gamestar) in a short news messsage, along with a one page rant why it won't be successful. The Steam Controller had more coverage, while the Steam Link to my surprise had about none at release.

Quoting: wleoncioI may be the minority here, but that's actually the biggest thing that drove me away from the Xbox 360. I wanted a simple videogame system, not an OS that clumsily tries to do everything my computer already does marvellously.
I'm having a similiar problem at the moment: I tried to find a TV that only displays what is send to it, without NFC, USB, EPG, three receivers, Ethernet, WiFi, recording, timeshift, internet, HbbTV, apps, "Smart". I gave up.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI'm sorry, but those numbers means zero - nill - nothing for the console customers.
Franchises like Fallout, GTA, Assassins Creed, Call Of Duty, Battlefront, Mass Effect: That's what matters. And not one hundred thousand indie games can make up for that: They don't mean squat.
As you obviously asked all of them, who am I to diagree.

But I personally would like to have both - AAA and lots of games including many indie pearls.
I still find the fact impressive - more games at start than the last consoles have after nine years.
And no, these are also not all AAA games.
