HTC Vive Plans Linux/SteamOS Support For Day 1

I'm happy when/if my article is proven wrong! :)

I still think VR can sell systems. If Valve comes out first with a decent VR system and Linux/SteamOS/Steam Machines are supported on day 1, this should help selling.

"What has this Steam Machine console which my console / other consoles don't"?
"1500 games at day one - and VR!"

Nvidia To Show Off Vulkan On NVIDIA GPUs & An OpenGL Linux Graphics Debugger

Quoting: Guest4) It takes a bit of effort. New API, developer experience, and approach to the engine are all factors - the last in particular may make it simply not worthwhile. Newer games on newer engines are where the first appearances are likely to be.
I've got a question as well. As far as I understood, Vulkan and the new DirectX are lower level APIs than their predecessors, and so it will make way more work to implement something in Vulkan or DirectX 12 than in OpenGL or DirectX 11. Is this correct?

Quoting: CybaCowboyI won't buy a computer unless it has an Nvidia graphics card and actively avoid computers using AMD graphics cards...
I would want to buy an AMD card, for FreeSync (vs. GSync) and Nvidias GTX 970 lies.
But obviously, as a Linux solely user(*), I won't.

(*) to the native speakers: is this correct, "Linux solely user"?

Tangiers Is A Horror Themed Stealth Game Coming To Linux, I'm Going To Make Samsai Stream It

Their website is a horror in its own right. When you click on about, you stay at the same place, visually, can scroll downwards to the about text - but the arrows to go to the other pages are gone...

New Linux Gaming Survey For August

Quoting: GuestIf I buy a game and have it refunded, does that count as a purchase?

Edit: answering myself: yes it is a purchase… but of course knowing how many were refunded, or disappointing, may be an interesting thing to know.

Edit2: About Mordor, I can’t really answer that one. Already bought it, and I couldn’t bear it so got it refunded.
In the end, you've got the money and you haven't got the game, so I wouldn't count it as a purchase.

Totally. It's playable on my i5 with nvidia 660.
I will go with medium settings, which seems fine according to the benchmarks, and see how far I'll come with it.

Interview With The Developers Of Cossacks 3, Which Is Coming To Linux

Quoting: liamdaweHonestly, I didn't see it that way. I saw it more as that Steam supports Linux fully, which is what I believe they meant. Rather than Valve directly pitching into help every developer (which would be impossible, they aren't a big company staff wise).
I had the same impression as the others: There's some kind of incentive. Maybe more prominent search places or such. I'd like to know, too, but I'm not sure they're allowed to talk about it.

Quoting: tuubiAccording to a random website, the official vmem requirement for the game at 1080p is 2 gigs for the Medium texture quality setting and 4 GiB for High. 6 GiB for Ultra when the hd texture pack is installed. No mention of the effect of other settings, but I got the impression that this is with at least reasonable AA.
The game states these itself when changing texture quality (box on right side).
AFAIR it doesn't state a resolution, but I guess that only could be 1080p.
