I'm happy with gaming on Debian. If, which I doubt, there will be a huge performance difference with SteamOS not making it back into Debian, I might dual-boot. But I'm happy with a Linux gaming PC and don't need no "Steam Machine".

Changing mine helped for a few games, although dozens of other ran well with the default.

Quoting: SkarjakI always upgrade to the latest drivers. Still choppy. Still not choppy on Windows with super old drivers I haven't bothered to upgrade in ages.Which CPU performance governor are you using?

I already had played Enemy Unknown for about 70 hours under Windows, but when it came out for Linux, I spent about the same amount of time with Enemy Within. Didn't even use any mod.
Do get it.

Quoting: pbOf course they *know* the real numbers, which however doesn't mean they want, or even can, share them with the world.E. g. if they are publishing a client update in the beginning of the month, the downloaded updates at the end of the month should yield a decent "survey" of active users...

Quoting: vultureit is really sad when developer cannot name the platforms they develop for correctly.I'd call that minor annoyance, and for sure it's way less sad than not having a Linux version at all.

it is even bigger fiasco when they make error when naming their primary platform

Quoting: IlyaThis is one of the most underreported games I know about. It looks amazing and looks like it will be amazing (very different things, first one is about visuals and the other about gameplay experience), yet very few people know about it and there are either few articles or they have largely gone unnoticed.Has been featured several times in my favorite German paper(!) games magazine!
The Witcher 2 Has A New Beta For Linux, The Improvements Are Staggering

The last but one update was a very small one with big impact, by the way. So perhaps, the last one was as well.

Quoting: wojtek88How can I determine if I use correct version of the Witcher 2? I've already had linux_public_beta selected in betas tab, there is no other beta that I can select and there was no big update downloaded by steam. Is there somewhere any information about game version? In the properties, there's a build number: RMB, properties, local files. Mine shows: 503570.

Quoting: ImantsFor me it depends what they port :). But to steam machines to be successful it needs help from big developers like EA, Ubisoft ore Blizzard because many still buy they're games.Agree! Even if you don't want a single game from them, it would great news for all of us if they are porting them!
